==Current Progress==
41 images of a Black and Decker Cordless Drill have been taken for use with COLMAP

A 'Sparse' point-cloud reconstruction was achieved using only a CPU since the GPUs wouldn't work

However, only a 'Dense' point-cloud can be exported as a mesh for use in MeshLab. This requires a CUDA enabled GPU, which I have and can install

An alternative is to attempt to construct a mesh from the 'Sparse' point cloud we have generated using another open source program called OpenMVS.

===Next Steps===
Continue by installing CUDA API for my Nvidia GPU, and/or attempt mesh reconstruction from sparse point-cloud with OpenMVS pipeline
Harman bio:

Hi, my name is Harman Bains. I wear many hats, but they usually have to do with figuring out how to help fix the problems facing humanity. I have dual Bachelor's degrees in Neurobiology and Computer Science. I spent a year in medical school, and another working as a software developer in California. I learned a lot but have always been looking for the path that aligns my interests, abilities, and mission to help make the world a better place. With the Open Source Ecology Fellowship, I think I've found that path.

Please support me in my quest to better understand technology and its ability to help alleviate human suffering. In my free time I've taught myself how to grow crops, fix cars, build computers, greenhouses and many other skills related to producing the goods needed to meet human needs. I hope to one day take my skills to India, and many other developing nations to provide the tools and guidance people need to lift themselves out of poverty. I'm intelligent, determined and ready to produce results for OSE. Together, we can breakthrough to a new era of collaboration and sustainability through open source hardware and design.
Uploading my Dev Test files today

*Installation took about 45 minutes, I didn't install on the machine I used it in Live mode which sped things up
*Learning FreeCAD and making the cube took about 6 hours
*Documenting took another 4
*Total hours: 11

*'''Most Difficult Section:''' navigating the wiki to find all the stuff I needed to do. The application is scattered over multiple pages and intermixed with the Immersion program application.
*'''Other Feedback:''' There needs to be better requirements for the cube, that includes images of what the completed cube should look like, as well as what kind of nut and bolt to use (ISO 4014 Screw with M27 Diameter and 220 length and ISO 4032 Nut with M27 Diameter)

==Current Progress==
41 images of a Black and Decker Cordless Drill have been taken for use with COLMAP

Have been unable to get COLMAP to carry out a reconstruction using the GPU on the following machines:

PC: Sony Vaio Laptop

OS: Ubuntu 18.04

CPU: Intel i5-2540M

GPU: Radeon 6630M

Notes: GUI crashes to terminal with SIGABRT error when attempting reconstruction

PC: Custom AMD

OS: Ubuntu 18.04

CPU:AMD FX-6300

GPU: AMD Vega FE

Notes: GUI crashes to terminal with SIGABRT error when attempting reconstruction

PC: Custom AMD

OS: Windows 10

CPU: AMD FX-6300

GPU: AMD Vega FE

Notes: Reconstruction analyzes images but finds no features to match

PC: Custom Intel

OS: Ubuntu 18.04

CPU: Intel i5-3570K

GPU: EVGA GTX 970

Notes: Same crash as others

I have had some success with COLMAP analyzing images and finding features using the CPU only (no GPU) on my custom AMD and Intel builds. This has been running for 8.5 hours today, and I don't know if it will be done in a reasonable amount of time because the CPU is much slower at image analysis than the GPU pipeline.

===Next Steps===
I'm going to leave the reconstructions running overnight. Tomorrow I will probably shut one desktop down to attempt a CPU reconstruction of my 41 cordless drill images, and shut the other one down for use as a diagnostic machine with which I will post to the COLMAP GitHub for guidance. This may require writing some code for COLMAP if it isn't a quick fix

I dream of someday owning my own homestead, perhaps even creating an idyllic village with like minded people. I want to learn the land and eat the food I grow, and I want to build the tools I need for a serene life of travel, meditation, and enjoying the outdoors.

As peaceful as that sounds, I wouldn't be able to rest easy unless I found a way to give everyone the opportunity to create a just and verdant life. My pursuit of this endeavor lead me to medical school, in hopes I could alleviate the suffering of others. I realized soon that I was being trained to deal with the symptoms of poverty, and that good health was best achieved through food security and sound infrastructure. I left to pursue a career in computer science, hoping to leverage new technologies to affect change. I learned many new things, and after much deep thought and meditation, I realized that giving people the tools and guidance to live sustainable, healthy lives could have a huge impact. I began researching this prospect in earnest and decided to join with Open Source Ecology to help make this vision a reality.

Today I try to leverage my knowledge of biochemistry, programming, and general mechanics to help build a better economy for humanity. I believe education, open sources tools, and community operated currencies are key to creating a sustainable, circular economy.

I'm currently trying to learn more about farming, manufacturing, 3D modeling and rendering, game development, VR, new forms of currency (Ethereum) and how we can roll all that up into a delicious burrito of freedom.

This page contains a collection of information, ideas, and materials for use in fundraising for the OSE Immersion Program, and marketing for the Fellowship Workshops. I won't necessarily always be presenting the slide deck so I need to internalize the narrative before speaking with potential donors. I imagined myself mostly speaking 1-on-1 or to a small group and designed the deck to have a lot of visuals to supplement my conversation/pitch

=Outline=
*I start by introducing OSE and showing Marcin's TED talk. This legitimizes OSE because many people recognize TED
*I give a status update and introduce the next step, expansion via the Distributive Enterprise Microfactory
*I outline the machines included and their uses/benefits
*I outline the benefits for the community in which a Microfactory would be built
*Finally I make the ask for support, and provide incentives for potential donors
*Edit Fellowship picture on last slide to only ready "Do you want to create the ethical economy" and "Open Source Ecology" on the subheading
*I would also like to standardize the images to be kind of like the blueprint infographic of the 3D printer on slide 5. Who made this and are the resources/workflow documented somewhere? I'm familiar with GIMP and Blender, so I could maybe import the FreeCAD files into Blender, render it and then use GIMP for the remaining touch up. Will be time consuming

=Further Refinement=

*Find a picture of the plastic grinder
*Add attributions for Recyclebot
*I would also like to standardize the images to be kind of like the blueprint infographic of the 3D printer on slide 5. Who made this and are the resources/workflow documented somewhere? I'm familiar with GIMP and Blender, so I could maybe import the FreeCAD files into Blender, render it and then use GIMP for the remaining touch up. Will be time consuming

<html><iframe src="https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vQk9vFmcM9w159mgxBSd0SiDxg167YKsdh4YOBzOV5nw_r-fqBfWkvSd_fz5wxxGmahXyY7gy1X0EMn/embed?start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000" frameborder="0" width="960" height="569" allowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true"></iframe></html>

=Marcin's Notes and helpful links=
*Zero interest loan - from parents
*Marketplace for cryptocurrency - in California. Idea was sound, team not good. Thought also issue that solved the issue - [[ZeroX]] -
*[[Recyclebot]] - pitch that - put in pictures from Dr. Pearce's paper
