Independent OSE Efforts

This is a list of independent OSE Efforts.

[[So,_you_want_to_build_a_new_civilization%3F|Explanation]]: We encourage that the OSE message be spread far and wide as the third economic paradigm. To this end, we do not restrict anybody from using the OSE name as long as they are following the OSE Paradigm. Others are welcome to use the official OSE name or official logo in branding their work or group as an independent OSE effort, without explicit permission, if they are an individual, group, or organization. Independent OSE Efforts are intended to promote that work of OSE, while not demanding that any resources on the part of OSE International.

To be an independent OSE effort in good standing – the effort may be one or more of the following:
*A user of GVCS technologies
*Doing outreach about the OSE Paradigm
*Developer or prototyper of GVCS technologies
*Engaging in the development of any other, non-GVCS technologies while publishing designs and open business models. We believe in open everything, and the wiki is infinitely expandable. We recommend that you publish on the OSE Wiki for recognition
*An effort for raising money (nonprofit sector or otherwise) by using the OSE brand. In the case that you are raising money, we request that if you use the OSE brand, that you contribute 25% of your net funding raised to promote the work of OSE International. This money will be used directly for GVCS prototyping in 2012, so your funding will help the entire movement to achieve its goals faster.

While others are allowed to use the GVCS designs for profit - they are not allowed to use the official OSE logo to brand their products. They are welcome to sell products under their own label. If one wants to sell products under the official OSE/GVCS label, then one is required to become a [[So,_you_want_to_build_a_new_civilization%3F|certified OSE/GVCS producer]].

Hulls are simple, box barges - rectangular in plan and section views.
Hulls and superstructures are whole and simple-fraction multiples of rectangular, off-the-shelf sheet materials, and modular as to length.
Hull beam is one sheet.
Hull curves are limited to the ends (generally one quarter the LOA) , reducing lofting, layout, spiling, cutting, beveling and bending to bare minimums.
Hulls are self-rectifying and jig-less (consequences of these rules).

Side decks are not used (flush decks maintain strength and simplify construction).
All decks are planar, pitched or section-of-cylinder (simple layout and construction).
All controlling numbers are rationalized (rounded... Imperial system, unfortunately, is recommended) to maximize mnemonic retention, communication and accuracy.

Every variation reduces simplicity and adds cost and effort. The unmodified formula, using commercial lengths of plywood, generates several hundred instances, varying in length, beam, and draft, and includes adaptations for stationary, power or sail. The sail of course is Tyvek.

:General happiness comes from freedoms above all else. The more we as a people can make someone financially free, emotionally free, spiritually free, sexually free, and farming free the more happiness the person will likely experience. Not because they won't do anything and sit around like a bump on a log. No, when faced with having their basic needs met, there is a general tendancy among people, that we like to connect with one another, create, volunteer, share, and build because well, we're just built that way. So I feel it's not financial weath anyone should pursue, though that can and often does bring happiness, but freedom is what we should pursue, and it must be for everyone. We have certain freedoms now, great let's quadiple those, and then quadtriple them again. Like a never ending onion, I'd like to see how deep this experiment in human abundance can go. And I believe the core of getting these freedoms is through granting personal empowerment to the individual, ie everyone. And open source solutions are the key.
::Bucky used to say we need more slavery, lot's more. Because electronic slaves don't care if they're run all day. And on every modern person, how many robots, or artifacts/mechanisms are there that aid and help us do whatever it is we want them to do every hour we're awake like our cell phones, car keys, and credit cards. : I think it is specifically addressing the largest part of the problem, namely the way we problem solve. Or another way of saying it is, Nature uses Pull Technology which requires as little movement in any direction maximizing all available resources at the point of problem to resolve a solution. Un-complexifying and demystifying the building of complex robots/artifacts/mechanisms is also a bridge between the public and corporations granting similar power to a small group as a corporation might have, thereby empowering neighborhoods which are just as likely to build your items than an individual on their own.

:General happiness comes from freedoms above all else. The more we as a people can make someone financially free, emotionally free, spiritually free, sexually free, and farming free the more happiness the person will likely experience. Not because they won't do anything and sit around like a bump on a log. No, when faced with having their basic needs met, there is a general tendancy among people, that we like to connect with one another, create, volunteer, share, and build because well, we're just built that way. So I feel it's not financial weath anyone should pursue, though that can and often does bring happiness, but freedom is what we should pursue, and it must be for everyone. We have certain freedoms now, great let's quadiple those, and then quadtriple them again. Like a never ending onion, I'd like to see how deep this experiment in human abundance can go. And I believe the core of getting these freedoms is through granting personal empowerment to the individual, ie everyone. And open source solutions are the key.
::Bucky used to say we need more slavery, lot's more. Because electronic slaves don't care if they're run all day. And on every modern person, how many robots, or artifacts/mechanisms are there that aid and help us do whatever it is we want them to do every hour we're awake like our cell phones, car keys, and credit cards. They aid in empowering us making the world smaller therefore more travelable, understandable, and we hope more friendly.
;How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
: I think it is specifically addressing the largest part of the problem, namely the way we problem solve. Or another way of saying it is, Nature uses Pull Technology which requires as little movement in any direction maximizing all available resources at the point of problem to resolve a solution. Un-complexifying and demystifying the building of complex robots/artifacts/mechanisms is also a bridge between the public and corporations granting similar power to a small group as a corporation might have, thereby empowering neighborhoods which are just as likely to build your items than an individual on their own.

WHAT AN INTERESTING IDEA. I'D LIKE TO LEARN MORE. We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology.

:General happiness comes from freedoms above all else. The more we as a people can make someone financially free, emotionally free, spiritually free, sexually free, and farming free the more happiness the person will likely experience. Not because they won't do anything and sit around like a bump on a log. No, when faced with having their basic needs met, there is a general tendancy among people, that we like to connect with one another, create, volunteer, share, and build because well, we're just built that way. So I feel it's not financial weath anyone should pursue, though that can and often does bring happiness, but freedom is what we should pursue, and it must be for everyone. We have certain freedoms now, great let's quadiple those, and then quadtriple them again. Like a never ending onion, I'd like to see how deep this experiment in human abundance can go. And I believe the core of getting these freedoms is through granting personal empowerment to the individual, ie everyone. And open source solutions are the key.
::Bucky used to say we need more slavery, lot's more. Because electronic slaves don't care if they're run all day. And on every modern person, how many robots, or artifacts/mechanisms are there that aid and help us do whatever it is we want them to do every hour we're awake like our cell phones, car keys, and credit cards. They aid in empowering us making the world smaller therefore more travelable, understandable, and we hope more friendly.
;How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
: I think it is specifically addressing the largest part of the problem, namely the way we problem solve. Or another way of saying it is, Nature uses Pull Technology which requires as little movement in any direction maximizing all available resources at the point of problem to resolve a solution. Un-complexifying and demystifying the building of complex robots/artifacts/mechanisms is also a bridge between the public and corporations granting similar power to a small group as a corporation might have, thereby empowering neighborhoods which are just as likely to build your items than an individual on their own.

:YES The GVCS is the preparatory step for the OSE Village Experiment – a 2 year, immersion experiment (2013-2014) for testing whether a real, thriving, modern-day prototype community of 200 people can be built on 200 acres using local resources and open access to information? WHAT AN INTERESTING IDEA. I'D LIKE TO LEARN MORE. We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology.
