<br/>

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you support open source culture?
Absolutely. We have to open so many things - software, hardware, knowledge, connections, beliefs, feelings. Just amazing possibilities!

*Why are you interested in this work?
First, Open Source Ecology is based on Natural Principles which consequences have been shown to be positive for a lot of natural and technological systems.

* Decentralization (instead of Centralization) of Power – proven pattern in a lot of networks, like technology (internet, web site development, …) and human relationships (politics, religion/spirituality, family, …).
* Self-Sufficiency – basic needs for living are covered and produced by the local people. No need for dependence. In the future if there is dependency it will be in the form of collaboration.
* Openness – sharing documentation, product design and development process. Being able to change and adapt the products.
* Product Quality – life-time, modular and systems Design.
* Collaboration (instead of using other people for self-interest) – getting people together by purpose and values, and not by force, is much better for the producers and the consumers as well.
* Replicability – giving birth of open sourced, modern-living villages is just amazing! Having the choice of replicability saves a lot of time and work.

Second, it is crucially important that we go beyond life of survival. Survival mode is pushing everyone to take resources from other people, not considering their allowance, health and their community. When we are in survival mode we often neglect our own values and push other people in order to survive.

When we reach the state of living where all basic needs are covered, every person on this planet will have much bigger possibility to develop his own potential. Right now only a very small percentage of the human population have the time and possibilities to develop themselves – to guide their own life in the direction they want, to contribute to the society by using their abilities in their fullness. Most people in the world are fighting, struggling, working only for their own survival or that of their own families, and higher goals and desires like developing themselves and contributing to society are not possible or of low priority.

We need new models of economy and living based on openness, giving and sharing. Open Source Ecology is headed clearly in this direction, giving back freedom and abundance to where it belongs.

*Why are you interested in OSE Germany?
OSE Germany is crucial to the development of OSE in Europe. If we do it in Germany we can do everywhere in Europe. Germany has many advantages: a lot of professionals, one of the biggest sustainability cultures in the world and most people are well financially.

*How does OSE fit into your current live and long and short term goals?
I have dedicated my life to OSE.

*What will stop you supporting OSE Germany?
Nothing. As long as we are developing with the OSE values and principles, this is my path.
<br/><br/>

Natural Building
- I want to learn and practice designing and building tools and structures.

*What have you contributed to the development of OSE and OSE Germany?
To OSE: Wiki (Crash Course, Team Culturing), IT, Press, OSE Europe<br/>
To OSE Germany: Organizing, communicating, expanding the network, finding people. For more info see OSE Germany.

*What is stopping your contribution to OSE Germany?
On a personal level: my communication is expanding and I am prioritizing where my attention and work is going. I am deciding between good, better and best. I am not yet so good as I wished I was, but I am getting there every day. I want and I am learning how to be more effective.<br/>
On a team level: team communication and team work should be better. This has direct effect also on my work - delaying or improving it. Would love to see more people engaged in OSE Germany from the hearth.<br/>
On environment: we still don't have a real OSE Village where we can take ownership of our lives and work.
<br/><br/>

1) Developing OSE Germany, 2) creating open collaborative OSE Europe, 3) helping OSE and FeF as I can.

*What is the best use of your time?
Communication: I love communication that is clear, immediately gets to the point, time-saving, but also also honest and from the heart. Feedback is great!<br/>
Prioritized Actions: For OSE Germany it is better that my focus right now is finding the people with skills rather then me personally developing my engineering, fabrication and construction skills, i.e. organization and communication. Second priority is the creation of OSE Village as long-term dedication.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
All my time!

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
We have to find ways to sustain everyone of us involved in OSE. Be it through money and other ways, the projects should be long-term sustainable.

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis? Under what kind of conditions?
Yes. Under the only condition that we make it possible at least for the OSE Germany Core Team to work sustainably in the long-term.

*Are you interested in being part of the OSE Village in Germany?
Absolutely! This is my long-term goal.

*Are you interested in building GVCS or other Open Source Hardware equipment? If so which ones?
Totally. Still too early to say which ones, depends on our needs in the OSE Village.

*Are you a True Fan?
Yes.

*Are you OSE Germany Commons Donor?
It is not possible technically yet. Hopefully we can offer this possibility soon.

*What should happen so that you become more involved in OSE Germany?
OSE Village in Germany.

*What should happen so that you are passionately involved in OSE Germany?
I am and if more people are passionately involved in OSE Germany, then the synergy is amazing and the passion multiplies!
<br/><br/>

Team Work and Network
*What are your expectations of your team members?
They love the OSE values. Are honest with themselves and others. They work focused on what is important for our development. Communicate relevantly and openly. Communicate immediately when they feel that something planned is wrong or cannot happen. Give feedback. Choose to unite rather than separate people. Maintain enriching relationships within the team. Finally they want to develop themselves and help other people even outside the team.

*What do you perceive as your responsibility as a team member?
All of the above expectation of my team member + ensuring that we as team are moving forward.

*What do you think should be our priorities now and in the long-term?
Now: 1) Better team work 2) Expanding the network 3) OSE Village<br/>
Long-term: Still to be defined concretely with the team. My initial thoughts: 1) Identifying economically significant technology for Germany (GVCS-like) 2) Creating Open Collaborative Platform 3) Development and proof of concepts for few technologies 4) Creating dozens of places where open source development thrives 5) More Growth and Open Collaboration

*What are the biggest challenges for OSE Germany and what can we and you do about them?
For Germany as a country: a lot of laws (Gesetze) and certification requirements. Solutions: learn about them and find out solutions as open community.<br/>
For the team: good strategy and dedicated actions. Solutions: Strategy is yet to be defined, all help is needed. Dedicated action really depends on your real motivation to participate in OSE Germany - the more clear you are the better for you and everyone.
<br/><br/>

Your Friends and Community
*How are your friends and environment supporting open source development
Almost all my friends and my environment participate in OSE and OM. Both represent exactly the way I want to live. Though, I need also physical environment, like the OSE Village in Germany, so that I and others can put the open source development into concrete practice.

*How your environment can become more supportive or even engaged in open source development?
Experiment and become an example that it is possible. Create physical places where these people can live and work. Make it sustainable in the long-term.

*Can you share with everyone of us friends, people, communities and organizations you know who are already doing valuable work for a better future?
I document it here: OSE Europe Friends.
<br/><br/>

Feedback
*What do you like in OSE Germany?
The people who are already participating and the growing interest. That we are open network. That we have very similar values.

*What is missing in OSE Germany?
- More dedicated people.<br/>
- Real need! OSE Village and visionary project.

*What are your suggestions for improvement in OSE Germany and how could these be implemented?
Know what you really want to do. If OSE is some part of that, join us!
WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you endorse open source culture?
Absolutely. I work in the software world every day. I participate in the Northwest blacksmithing association where techniques and advice are in contininuous interplay. many of the blacksmiths in the group refer to themselves as "the original maker culture".

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
My chosen family is building a farm. We are at the planning stages, and I am a gearhead. I have a small woodshop, a blacksmithing forge, and a wirefeed welder. I would much rather build than buy, unless time is a critical factor.

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
Enabling people with knowledge, know-how, and skills to make what they need.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
I don't know yet: I am still "drinking from the firehose".

*What is missing in the project?

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?

WHAT are your skills?
*List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other
Communications: amateur radio "general" license: KF7TMV
<br />
<br />more to come...

*How have you already contributed to the project?
nothing yet. just reading and getting excited.

HOW can you help?
*How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
Learning what I can, and building a number of tools from your plans.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
I don't know yet. I would like to find out what opportunities exist. At the least to begin my own set of equipment.

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
I would be interested in working for pay. I have a wide skill set.
<br />
<br />First, I have been doing linux systems administration for 15 years, including networking, dev ops, call center support, low voltage wiring, and some light programming. On an hourly, full-time basis, I generally aim for between $35-40/hr
<br />
<br />The rest of my (albeit advanced hobby-level) skills range from woodworking, sheet metal, welding, blacksmithing, general handyman, wiring (240 volts, single phase), machining, plumbing etc.
<br />
<br />I don't have a very good idea of an hourly rate for the second category.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit?
One day, yes.

*Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Depends on my income,etc

*Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
probably not.

*Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
not yet

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
I would very much enjoy that.

*Are you interested in being part of the world's first, open source, resilient community? The GVCS is the preparatory step for the OSE Village Experiment – a 2 year, immersion experiment (2013-2014) for testing whether a real, thriving, modern-day prototype community of 200 people can be built on 200 acres using local resources and open access to information? We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology.
I would be interested but I have a family I must remain in the area for.

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you endorse open source culture?
Yes.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
I believe that technologies such as those outlined in the GVCS can have an enormous impact on the lives of people around the world. Being able to use my skills as an engineer and teacher to help make those technologies more affordable and accessible to all people seems to me an extremely worthy pursuit.

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
Making industrial quality machinery more affordable and accessible can help communities become more self-reliant, which in turn can be very empowering for individuals in those communities.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
I'm doing my best to find a place to become involved, but the documentation seems hazy at present, it's not clear where the help is needed.

*What is missing in the project?

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?

WHAT are your skills?
*List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other
Refer to my resumes.

*How have you already contributed to the project?
Not yet, but I hope to get involved as soon as I can.

HOW can you help?
*How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
I am interested in helping in the research and development of the GVCS machines, including replication, testing and documentation of those already being developed. I have a fair amount of entrepreneurial experience, and am interested in setting up a sustainable, not-for-profit business dedicated to the research and development of the GVCS. I'm also interested in improving the documentation process to help facilitate contributions.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
At present, I need to balance work/volunteer hours in education and in the technical field, but I intend to contribute at least 10 hours a week to the project.

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
Yes. It depends on what is needed.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit?
Yes.

*Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Not at this time.

*Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
Not at this time.

*Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
No. I'm wary of associating commitment to something with contributing money, and I would like to become more personally familiar with the project before donating money. Also, the openfarmtech.com website is completely inscrutable.

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Yes. From what I've seen so far, this project is in line with how I want to spend my time and earn my livelihood.

Perhaps. It certainly will be an interesting experiment, and I might be interested in participating. We'll see how things unfold as the GVCS develops.
*Location (city, country) - Columbus, OH and TZ
*Contact Information (email, skype, phone) - cuits (at) insight (dot) rr (dot) com
*Picture - being sent via e-mail
*Introductory Video -
*Resume/CV - I come with over 30 years of experience as an organizational, community and regional developer. Now retired, I work in North West Tanzania with mostly rural villagers in finding agricultural alternatives to climate change and subsistence farming, sustainable village health and maternal-child well-being, habitable housing, and economic development.
<br />
<br />This empowerment model of constituent resourcing, and multiple projects over time build capacities for next projects they mutually agree upon based on their mutual vision. I seek potential investors and volunteers to "fill in the spaces" via technology, education, and added bodies to augment village-based solution models and to implement and effect them under local leadership and available resources.
<br />
<br />My current main projects are to get a CBE machine built for multiple building solutions, a hospital revamp, and starting up a rural village health program (motorcycle nurse using telemedicine computer) and increasing agricultural output under climate change conditions.

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you endorse open source culture?
YES. I am convinced that if people have things done for them they will not learn mutual self-help, pride, self-perpetuated motivation, and ingenuity from the experience. I also have seen that culturally, the people think differently about how to do things, in differing time frames, etc. than most outside funders do - which creates untenable situations. By using a self-developed answer, locals figure out how to fund projects and work toward completion of goals with much more follow-through and greater success which carries over into future projects.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
The cost of purchased equipment is too high and in an underdeveloped infrastructure, options for adequate transport of such items are too few and costs are prohibitive to the local people

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
In addition to what you are doing, create a "Doctors without Borders" volunteer program for Engineers and on-the-ground entrepreneurs and community developers willing to work with local peoples globally in building these machines teaching them to use them, and engaging them in their communities.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
Keep the website current
<br />Keep up what you are doing!

WHAT are your skills?
Skills in:
<br />Organizational, Community and Regional Planning, Project development and Evaluation, (displaced persons, abject poverty, health, housing, economic development,
<br />Adult and Child Development and Education,
<br />Public speaking, grantor program development, management, and evaluation
<br />Jewelry Design and Manufacture

*How have you already contributed to the project?
Not your project but to the project of global equity, and on-the-ground solutions

HOW can you help?
*How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
Give me more time to figure how that can fit into what I already do.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
See above.
*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
I love the volunteer life but costs of volunteering are always something I like covered. Maybe the per-project approach could work - but we first need to talk.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit?
Will check out the idea. Right now, I am working up my next TZ trip - loads to do, little money for travel costs etc. But interested.

*Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Not unless a bootstraps group works for that

*Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
no

*Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
not yet

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Probably not - I am having too much gratification doing what I do with a great group of people who have plenty to do.

Cool! Living in community is great, the concept is on-target. At age 68, I would love to but think I need to stick with what I have to do. Too bad I am not younger -then I easily would be interested in your great experiment.
Yeah, it's great.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
The work OSE is doing, if implemented, would go a long way toward global equity, especially in self-sufficiency and technology.

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
By putting the means of production in the hands of the working class lolz

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
Lots of prototypes so's I can sketchup them. That, and if one of the GVCS blueprints was a hovertank.

*What is missing in the project?
A hovertank.

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
Engineer a hovertank.
<br />
<br />Seriously, though, address the needs of communities in their fight against corporate privatization more explicitly? Possibly involving a schematic for a hovertank?
You got words, son! But yeah, totes.
WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you endorse open source culture?
Wholeheartedly, it seems to me that it's the most rational and efficient way of developing (pretty much) everything. And I personally enjoy collaborating with others on things that interest me.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
I'm a mechanical engineering student and I have an interest for social investment and development. Open ecology seems to align with many of the things I deem important and would like to learn more about. I would also like to introduce these idea's to people who would also be interested in them.

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
I have lived in South Africa my whole life and have seen the impact of social injustice that in my eyes hasn't changed very much since the start of democracy in my country. I see a need for self-empowerment and self-reliance that I think GVCS could play a part in.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
I would like to be involved with the CAD Team, I'm by no means an expert, but I see this as an opportunity to gain experience and learn from those with more skills than myself as well as apply what I'm learning to a project which I see great value in.

*What is missing in the project?
At this stage I can't really say anything with much certainty. Although that if say, Factor e Farm was situated in a community where there was a need for technology as well as a local population with the will to learn how to develop and use it, something cool might happen.

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
Expand

WHAT are your skills?
Organizational - involvement with societies at school (nothing hectic or formal)
<br />Computer support - I always fix my own computer/IT problems. Very computer literate, us linux ubuntu, experience with Java, Python and Matlab.
<br />Design - I've studying courses and am going to do more courses involving engineering design. Still have a couple of years until I get my B.Sc.
<br />Electronics - Included in my field of study, been messing around with an Arduino kit for a while.
<br />Engineering - 2nd/3rd year electro-mechanical engineering student at UCT (University of Cape Town)
<br />Fabrication/CNC/Industry - internship at a engineering firm and a workshop course (mig, tig, arc welding, basic CAD/CAM design and workshop fabrication - turning, fitting, drilling, milling)
*Do you endorse open source culture?
I didn't know open source had its own culture.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
1. I respect your boldness
<br />2. I believe in freedom and love
<br />3. I'm incredibly curious to see if I can successfully build the GVCS
<br />4. Regardless of whether not my contributions benefit my life in any way, I believe that they will benefit others
<br />5. I have suddenly found myself in a situation where I have access to labor, skills, and materials necessary for replication. It would be a crime for me not to at least attempt to contribute to this

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
I believe that the propagation of this knowledge has many applications to empower and equip individuals to build infrastructure in remote and poorly capitalized regions of the world, enabling them to address their own issues, whatever those may be.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
You should call me. three 3 zero two 6 seven eighty three ninety six

*What is missing in the project?
As I am not privy to all of your strategic plans, it would be presumptuous of me to say what may or may not be missing from your project. However, I will share with you that you may be missing an enormously powerful target market for your ideas in the rust belt. My assertion is based entirely my own experience with an admittedly small sample population, but during my brief experience sharing your plans with my coworkers, I have been very surprised by how uniform their desires for independence are, as well as their openness to the idea of essentially building their way to freedom.

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
A "START HERE" tab.

WHAT are your skills?
*List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other
I have strong analytical, critical thinking, public speaking and organizational skills. I also really enjoy doing cost estimation, and leading small teams. I have an undue amount of confidence that the tasks I undertake will succeed, along with strong work ethic which results in far more successes than my small skill set should allow for. I currently employed as a welding inspector in a steel fabrication plant, so while my personal fabrication skills are shoddy, I have an immediate network that has ABUNDANT skills and knowledge in CNC, Fabrication, Electronics, Metallurgy, Engineering, and other such industrial skills.

*How have you already contributed to the project?
I have shared it with several co-workers and friends and have sparked them to join my efforts to replicate and donate.

HOW can you help?
*How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
We are going to replicate the machines. I am interested in collaborating with entrepreneurs to initiate open businesses, both remotely and directly. After reading the final question of this survey, I am now also interested in the possibility of taking part in the OSE Village experiment.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
I desire to contribute, and would be open to discussing in more detail how we could work together.

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
As I stated above, my desire is to contribute. I would be open to discussing compensation - particularly to cover some parts for my initial replication, and/or to develop clear assembly protocol for manufacturing - for our efforts.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit?
Absolutely.

*Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Possibly

*Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
No

*Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
No. I'm putting my resources to work directly

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
I haven't considered it before, but now that I think about it, I might like that. As with any employment, it would depend on many factors. It seems that we share many core beliefs and I desire to put my energy and efforts toward setting individuals everywhere free from Scarcity. I haven't analyzed your needs, but I would be open to exploring what opportunities there might be for me to contribute to your organization.

Interestingly, yes. In fact, my wife and I might provide a fairly unique demographic that I would think you would be particularly interested in. We are 24 & 20 years old, and are expecting our first child this July. I'm not sure whether infants will be encouraged or discouraged for your initial experiment, but I would expect it to be a necessary segment of the population to test.

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Sure.

Yes.
Communication is very important aspect in the work we are doing and we continuously develop our communication skills.

* We open valuable internal communication - if we see that a communication between few people can bring value to more people or everyone, we share it openly there where it is needed - in the Wiki, the blog, the Google Group, on our events and to the people who need it.
* We keep communication relevant - if we want to communicate something relevant to just a few people (e.g. asking a personal question, etc), we communicate to those few people, a not to everyone (e.g. in the Google Group).
Wiki
We publish all information which should be accessible by everyone in this Wiki.

Blog
We publish blog posts in our blog. There you can find all last news from OSE Europe. If there is something you think should be published on the blog, just send a request for an account to oseeurope (at) gmail (dot) com and you will be given the right to do so. This is especially desired for forming groups in Europe sharing what they are doing, if they don't have their own website.
Open Communication
We communicate to everyone in OSE Europe in our Google Group.

Google Group
You can use the Google Group to reach (almost) everyone.
To change your membership settings:
* Open https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ose-europe
* Click on "My membership", on the right of the group title and update your settings. You can choose to leave the google group or receive: no email, abridged email, digested email or all.

Online Meetings
We discuss topics and actions together in our Online Meetings. Everybody is free to create a meeting suggesting the agenda and inviting people. We are open to everyone and we are self-organizing ourselves. We have conference calls in skype and Mumble.

1) My best friends in Bulgaria are forced to work in order to survive. They don't have the time and resources to develop themselves and contribute to society. According to our financial calculations, if nothing changes, their kids will be forced to do the same.<br/>
2) in Germany I worked as a software developer on projects for Fortune 500 IT, energy and automotive companies, and my conclusions were: I was used. They are not innovative and they care less about sustainability.

Similar experiences apply to the majority of the people in Europe. Change is needed and OSE is paving the way with its commitment to openness.

This year we started OSE Germany and OSE Italy. This wouldn't be possible without Marcin, the work at Factor E Farm, the support of the Shuttleworth and other foundations, and individuals world-wide. With the further development of the GVCS and the Open Source Economy we are able to continue localizing the production, creating social and economic justice, and thus enabling meaningful livelihoods.

And let us not forget. We are sharing all these economically significant informations digitally and they will be saved for hundreds of years. This means that now - we are creating value not only for our generation - but for all future generations. They will inherit and build upon it. Their well-being depends on our actions now.

Nikolay: Why I dedicated my life to Open Source Ecology?

Personal Path
2008
* Two weeks I was giving pretzels to the people on the street in Darmstadt. Unfortunately I wasn't able to just lift them up from the poverty - I didn't have the resources for that - as a poor student who is simultaneously studying and working. This was very disappointing! And nobody really cared for these people!

2009
* I noticed that my computer science studies in the university didn't help me develop as a human being. The focus was narrowed down to software and few mathematical courses. The result of finishing my bachelor was: 1) one lecture which I used in my later work as software developer. Actually the lecture was following a famous book that I could just read 2) new friends (which is an indirect result) 3) the paper which may have helped some employer to employ me. I just wasted 5 years of my life with low impact activities.
* To me came what was written in many spiritual books - the silence. Deep embracing everything peace ... Indescribable. This was what I was searching spiritually and when I found it, I knew that I can deepen it and enjoy it much more, but I saw something very important - this profound peace didn't require me to be someone or to do something to experience it and it is available to everyone in every moment in different intensities. The danger is, as well as with money, that you can "indulge" in it and forget to help others and solve serious humanitarian issues. And indulging is much easier than you think because the attraction of this absolute peace is millions time stronger than the usual emotions we experience and it is available in every moment. After I saw this, my previous notion of absolute peace changed and I enjoy much more the Fullness of the small moments in life and see and experience the absolute in the relative, the big in the small. And I started to ask my self seriously how can we practically improve the way we live.

2010
* I knew intuitively in 2010 that in 2011, the year when I got involved in OSE, I will make big changes in my life. This is what happened.
* After my bachelor in September 2009, I started a full time job, and for 15 months in my free time I was searching for ways we can improve the society and found great initiatives - organic farming, renewable energies, fair trade, sharing in different ways and others. Then I learned that all of them are directly connected to the economy. Open Source Ecology offered a path integrating all the different aspects into one vision and was making concrete steps into realizing this vision.

Bulgaria
* In December 2010 I visited Bulgaria and:
** We calculated with my best friend from Bulgaria that if he wants buy an apartment for his family, he had to save money for 20 years! And every month he would have 100€ left for everything beside his basic needs. Then his children will become adults and they can start to save money for their apartments! This is a brutal survival cycle spreading through human generations!
** I was speaking with my best friend about OSE and its implications, and that no matter what we do as humans if we don't cover our basic needs we won't be able to evolve to higher levels. Every word I said felt on the right place and the right time and for the first time in my life I tangibly felt inspiration in the atmosphere. Then I said that someone has to work in this direction - to cover the basic needs of humanity as the foundation of human evolution - and I saw that I will have to do it, this is my life. At this moment I found my life mission. My friend was so inspired that he said he should have filmed me.
** In the school in Bulgaria I was sitting at one desk with a friend. He has very good in computer science and mathematics. Now he is forced to do web marketing and does not have much time to take care of his health! His potential for contribution to humanity was lost! Hopefully it is not to late for him and his children!

2011
* Beginning of 2011 I started to contribute to OSE - Wiki, Team Culturing and so on.
* I worked 15 months as a software developer on projects for big famous Germany companies, from IT, to energy to automobile industry. Shortly, the innovation was slow, my software development was restricted by security rules driven by fear and by enforcing old proprietary software systems. It is not worth mentioning how they approached personal development, relationships and spreading my work to other people.
* In the middle of April Marcin gave me important tasks - web site preparation before the TED Talk, worldwide press communication, OSE map. After the TED Talk we had explosive growth - I had still my full time job and before and after the job I was working on OSE. The first week I slept 5 hours per night. After that I managed to sleep 8 hours. After the second week - we had so many things to do that my full time job was hindering my contribution to OSE and I quit my job to do what I LOVE to do. The decision was taken in less than 3 seconds after seeing all the signs that lead me to where I was.
* Before I quit my job I THOUGHT that in my free time I was growing well. When I quit my job for doing what I LOVE I gained much more power, my thoughts just broke free to the possibilities which I previously couldn't see. I am not promoting quitting your job, but I am promoting high alignment with what you really care about!
* Co-Started OSE Europe

2012
* Started OSE Germany.

Reasons
Sustainable Values
Open Source Ecology is based on Natural Principles which consequences have been shown to be positive for a lot of natural and technological systems.

* Decentralization (instead of Centralization) of Power – proven pattern in a lot of networks, like technology (Internet, web site development, ...) and human relationships (politics, religion/spirituality, family, ...).
* Replicability – giving birth of open sourced, modern-living villages and cities is just amazing! Having the choice of replicability saves a lot of time and work.

Going Beyond Survival
It is crucially important that we go beyond life of survival.

Innovation
Open Source can accelerate 100000x innovation transforming it into radical real-time open collaborative worldwide innovation.

Future Generations
This significant information we are creating will be saved digitally for hundreds of years. This means that we are creating value now, not only for our current generation, but for all ... future ... generations to come - 2012, 2020, 2050, 2100, ... <br/>

<br/><br/>

Fabrication and CNC
- Beginner welding, metal working and CNC experience through few courses. Found it easy and will be happy to improve my fabrication skills.

<br/><br/>

HOW can you help?
*How do you want to contribute?

<br/><br/>

Nikolay: Why I dedicated my life to Open Source Ecology?

Personal Path
2008:
* Two weeks I was giving pretzels to the people on the street in Darmstadt. Unfortunately I wasn't able to just lift them up from the poverty - I didn't have the resources for that - as a poor student who is simultaneously studying and working. This was very disappointing! And nobody really cared for these people!

2009:

2010:
* I knew intuitively in 2010 that in 2011, the year when I got involved in OSE, I will make big changes in my life. This is what happened.
* After my bachelor in September 2009, I started a full time job, and for 15 months in my free time I was searching for ways we can improve the society and found great initiatives - organic farming, renewable energies, fair trade, sharing in different ways and others. Then I learned that all of them are directly connected to the economy. Open Source Ecology offered a path integrating all the different aspects into one vision and was making concrete steps into realizing this vision.

2011:
* Beginning of 2011 I started to contribute to OSE - Wiki, Team Culturing and so on.
* Co-Started OSE Europe

2012:
* Started OSE Germany.

* Replicability – giving birth of open sourced, modern-living villages and cities is just amazing! Having the choice of replicability saves a lot of time and work.

Going Beyond Survival
It is crucially important that we go beyond life of survival.

They will inherit this informations and build upon them. Their well being depends on our actions now!

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
*Do you endorse open source culture?
Yes. Open-source culture is a new branch in the evolution of democracy.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
I am interested in projects that discover and implement new concepts by connecting the accumulated ideas of generations in order to improve life quality and the human-earth connection. Open source ecology is the most advanced expression of that idea.

*How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
I consider many of the problems of human civilization to stem from the inability to live cooperatively with each other and with nature. The GVCS along with old and new concepts such as mixed used zoning and walkable communities will help to harmonize human habitat and democratize the economics of production.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
I am currently involved the interviewing process to be able to come work on the farm.

*What is missing in the project?

*What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?

WHAT are your skills?
*List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other
I am an experienced film-maker and video producer with a focus on camerawork, editing, and color grading. I am also an experienced and award-winning photographer with experience in many different environments and situations.
<br />
<br />I have a developing knowledge in organic food production, permaculture, and naturalism with a focus on conservation.

*How have you already contributed to the project?

HOW can you help?
*How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
I am interested in helping the project with its video needs of filming, editing, organizing, and publishing footage.

*Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
Yes, I am interested in helping full-time for a period of 1-2 months.

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
Not at the present time.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit?
Yes, I am in the interview phase of one now.

*Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Not at this time.

*Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?

*Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
Not at the moment, but I will be as soon as I have a more steady income.

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
I would be open to the idea in the future.

I may be interested in being part of that project and or helping with the documentation of it.
Communication 2
* Our team will be off the next week, we spend time together - I am sure your mail will be in our talks - and then we will come back to you,
warm greetings and yes, let us find ways to cooperate,
greetings
Barbara

* Hey friends!

I definitely love the OSE-movement. I had the pleasure to drive around Austria with Marcin Jakubowski 3 years ago, he is one of the OSE-founders. OSE is quite well-known in many movements including Permaculture and Ecovillage.

GREAT that OSE goes Germany. Its about technology. Which people, if not Germans, will make the best out of it :)

As technical focalizer of GEN-IS I can offer willingness to collaborate. At the moment we have lots to do. (We had a server-migration lately and the GEN-db development is ongoing, ...)

Connected to GEN-IS (Information Services) are several Open Source developers with the 'right spirit'. Only, they are quite busy. So am I.

The wish to unite hacker-spirit for a big thing which helps us all is omnipresent in all movements in the field of Sustainability at the moment. It feels to me that something big is waiting to be born.

All (=) Love, Ernesto ~:)

Communication
Dear Douglas, Janos, Barbara and Ernesto,

I am very happy that we have contact. This could be very important for the further development of the eco villages, OSE and everyone else.

The further technological development of the eco villages, communities and other efforts can be put in few simple steps (the execution is exciting):

1) Become Open and Agile:
* open source valuable replicable technological and economical achievements already developed.
* share openly your vision and why (for the technological development).
* share openly what are the needs and the considered technological solutions.
* adopt lean agile development methodologies for creating most responsible value in the shortest time.
* improve your openness continuously.

Comment: Openness and Agility are a learning process. If you ask me, you have to start doing them now. Even in OSE we are learning a lot about them as we progress.

Becoming open is the first most important step. Give and you will be given. Share and people will share with you.

2) Collaborate:
Today we have the possibility to collaborate Europe/worldwide, transfer knowledge (sometimes even skills) - even during the technological development - through Skype and other mediums. In Germany we start building the network between such people - contacts, skills, availability. Italy started too. We still have to grow this Europe wide.
* start the Tamera/GEN network of people who want to help technologically (contacts, skills, availability) - openly and internally.
* we share the networks between each other so that we can effectively use the available resource - there where they are most needed.
* improve collaboration continuously and structurally.
* then collaboration happens organically.

My current focus is Germany, but I want to see all Europe engaged in Open Source Economical development. That's why my suggestions for next steps and questions to all are:

Tamera specific:<br/>
3) I can support you to become 1) more Open and Agile with my knowledge. If you agree, we can share this process openly, so that it can be used also by other people. I need to know with whom from Tamera to do it - Douglas, Janos, ... I am available for this after 22. Oct including.

Europe specific:<br/>
The vision here is the same as world-wide, start open sourcing, build the network and collaborate.
4) The eco villages have enormous economical development knowledge to be shared. Who is interested to start sharing openly? Which villages and communities? It can be done in so simple small steps like sharing how to cook something. The most important thing here is creating thriving Open Culture in all these places, so that everyone can benefit from their development and vice-versa.
5) Which centers have knowledge about which technologies and do they realize the potential of going open source?
6) If there is already collaboration happening between at least two centers, this collaboration should become open so that everyone benefits from it - learn and improve it.
7) All these questions are important - how can we spread them through the GEN Network and reach the people? I can explain the benefits of this work. Who wants to help me with that?

My commitment here is communication. For building the collaborative European network we need help - community developers, networkers, subject matter experts, IT people. If anyone is interested to build this Europe wide, let's talk.

Germany specific:<br/>
8) I am preparing a video call in German language for participation in OSE - explanation of the why, what and how to participate. Planned release is this Friday. Do you know anyone who may be interested to spread it in Germany, Austria and Switzerland?

9) We need to find the people in Germany who really want go Open Source. Do you have any connections? We are searching for:
* experienced mentors with the right values.
* the people with whom to start the first Factor E Farm in Germany.

So all these steps are not to be done tomorrow, but this is what should happen if we really want to succeed as open community creating practical value for us and our children.

On Open Communication: this communication is shared openly in the OSE Wiki (without email contacts), so that everyone knows what we think. This is part of the open way in which we work. Douglas, I have allowed myself to include your words because they don't contain some secrets. To everyone: generally I work openly, if you don't want me to share something publicly, please tell me explicitly. From our experience - sharing openly accelerates exponentially the development and use of our work.
http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Tamera_Communication

Looking forward to your answers!

Nikolay

-------------

Hi Nikolay and Christopher,

thank you Christopher for the introduction.

I'm back in the office today after a couple of weeks of building site. Good to hear from you. We have been aware of OSE for a couple of years and are very happy to finally have contact.

As Christopher mentioned, the technology group here, and much of Tamera, is going into a time of planning and re-envisioning over the winter. The project structure will likely look quite different by Spring.

My position here is a member of the technology team. Janos (cc'd) is the technology coordinator. I also cc'd the coordinator of the solarvillage project, Barbara, and Ernesto Sun who is programming the GEN network site, Open Source advocate and a good network contact if you want to reach the ecovillages.

I don't know yet how a collaboration could look, but the wish is here.

Regards,

Douglas

-------------

Hi Christopher,

thank you for the introduction!

Hi Douglas,

what is your involvement in Tamera?

I assume you already know about Open Source Ecology' vision and goals. In Europe we are growing and will develop also other technologies according to our needs.

It is essential that the eco village network, and especially the bigger eco villages like Tamera, Sieben Linden and so on, participate in the Open Source Technological/Economical Development - because these are things which we all want and we can create much more value together than we think. Also it is essential to strengthen the collaborative develoment of technology between all these different places and people because as we know - every open source project will outbeat and outpeform the propriatary projects when there is the bigger community behind it. If you are interested in these topics, we could skype (nikolay.h.georgiev).

I live and develop Open Source Ecology in Germany. We are currently in the proces of building up the network and I plan to contact Sieben Linden next week. I am also searching for the people from the eco village network who really want to engage in Open Source and also the people who are responsible for the development of the network and the villages themselves - any contacts would be very helpful!

Thank You and Best Wishes to Tamera!
-------------

Nikolay: I visited the Tamera open day last weekend. Their technology group has been working on various solar energy related projects for the past few years, most of which is open source. The technology group at Tamera is actually shutting down for a while so they can plan their new direction. They get a lot of people asking whether their work relates with OSE.

Douglas: Nikolay coordinates the OSE efforts in Europe.

Tamera would make an interesting, European test site for Global Village Construction Set technology, though I'm not sure how much fabrication expertise they have on site. There is probably a discussion to be had as to how the objectives of OSE align with Tamera.

More later, but a few links to projects I mentioned. A few OSE people are involved in this:
Also, Daniel's Solar Flower has a novel, self resetting, low cost tracking system:
