Industrial plug and socket are used in various electric applications where the voltage and current are higher than household applications.

'''Industrial socket'''

The industrial socket, also known as socket-outlet, plug socket, wall socket, receptacle, etc. It is a female outlet with slots mated with a plug. According to the application environment, there are panel mounted type, wall mounted type, angled type, fused type, switched type and interlocked type.

'''Industrial plug'''

The plug is male inlet with numbers of pins, which insert the slots on the socket for connection.

'''The classification'''

Both the industrial socket and industrial plug share the same criteria.

By voltages: the commonly seen voltages are 100v - 130v, 200v - 250v, 380v - 415v. There is also supper low voltage industrial connector (below 50v). There are also high voltage sockets and plugs (above 1000v), but they are not usually considered as industrial plug and socket.

By current: the most sold on the market are 16a, 32a, 63a, 125a. Other specifications, such as 200a, are also existing.

By number of pins: there are 2P+E, 3P+E, 3P+N+E, P+N+E, etc.

By color of appearance: please note that the color the industrial socket and plug is defined according to the "color code", a certain color refers to the voltage ranges where this connector shall be used. The yellow, blue, red and black are the four major types.
