	~~Thanks. Today I jotted down~~ an index of ~~items~~ that ~~I see as desirable for~~ the ~~overall~~ Open Source Ecology movement~~. I'd like your comments. PS. We're going all solar today, electricity will be out for a few days~~.		This is an index of fields that we should be able to communicate in a coherent fashion regarding the general work of the Open Source Ecology movement.

			Thanks. Today I jotted down an index of items that I see as desirable for the overall Open Source Ecology movement. I'd like your comments. PS. We're going all solar today, electricity will be out for a few days.

			1. Overview - the whole shebang, like the Appropedia entry for open source ecology

			2. Projects - the projects mentioned at the Global Village Construction Set presentation on the wiki; the header of projects on the wiki; teh 16 technologies outlined in teh proposal no-one read

			3. Technology - this is the wiki development page, the technical area not meant to be viewed by casual viewers

			4. PR/Publicity/Marketing – press kit, brochures, publicity messages to stakeholders, etc.

			5. Pictures – I should revive my Flickr site – I’ve got tons of interesting new pictures

			6. Videos – Factor e Live series is main here – plus other footage from blog, or other footage that I don’t publish

			7. Blog – our blog, plus blogroll of interesting sites – Vinay’s, P2P, Smari, etc.

			8. News – what’s new in the projects

			9. In the News – what third parties say about us

			10. OSE Theory and Principles – similar to the stuff at sourceopen.org and ose.noblogs.com; theory development; open source economic model development; OSE specifications

			11. OS Product Development cycle (OSPDC) – overview

			12. Product releases – none yet, first in March, 2009

			13. Phases – phases of each product

			14. Design rationales – key part of OSPDC – it is the foundation – for each product

			15. “Red Pages” – see start on the wiki – these are the crowd research pages where key questions are asked to a wide audience, to help primarily with Design Rationale for each product. Requires good questions to move project forward

			16. Proposals – the second main phase of product development – a coherent proposal including motivation – like a business plan – that can be circulated to more serious funders, or serve as background to crowdsource funding.

			17. Implementations – this is the fruits. We should have a clear documentation of things that exist, were built, etc – distinct from theory and plans. When people want to see what we’ve done, this is it. This is the fruit of proposals, but it could also be minor local accomplishments, such as picking raspberries from our plantings.

			18. People and Collaboration – Core Team, Factor E Team, and remote collaborators should be featured. Categorize into networkers, engineers, IT people, etc.

			19. Student projects portal – each product or its parts can be turned into research projects, such as implementing a living gene bank/permacultural CSA/u-pick – or building parts of the Fab Lab. This should include Semester Abroad and internships – but it should focus on projects located at Factor e Farm, where students have to come here to the living collaboratory. Otherwise, it’s hard to keep students on track with respect to the OSE mission and specs.

			20. Land Stewardship – this is a big one. For replication, we will engage in collaborative land acquisition. We will offer 2-year immersion training for land stewards who want to replicate OSE-style neosubsistence operations – and build global villages elsewhere.

			21. Peer review/Consensus polls – this is ‘market research’ for what products people are interested in. Also, this could be a great tool for attaining design rationale consensus for each product – can we all agree on the most robust designs, proven techniques, etc? We can leverage this for promoting products? Peer review is at the level of proposal writing, verification of our conclusions.

			22. Organizational development – developing proper legal operational structure, proper land tenure model, funding structure, focusing on open source economic model. This also includes refining the open engineering model.
