I wanted to reach out because we’re very interested in collaborating with you on hempcrete block — thank you Paul for the connection. But with a very specific framing: full and authentic open source.
At <a href="https://www.ted.com/talks/marcin_jakubowski_open_sourced_blueprints_for_civilization">Open Source Ecology</a>, we’re working toward scalable solutions that are transparent, replicable, and transformative. For example, in December we’re building an open source RTK-GPS skid steer as part of our open hardware portfolio. Alongside that, we’re looking at:

PV-powered lime kiln (based on 20¢/watt PV panels)
</li>
<li>
Open source machines for hemp, <a href="https://wiki.opensourceecology.org/wiki/Solar_Concrete">solar concrete</a>, and block production
</li>
<li>
Brick/block makers at production scale. We have built a number of CEB structures with our <a href="https://vimeo.com/49864277">open source block press</a>. Future development involves creating an automated production line, both for block and the machines that make the block.

We’re also planning to grow hemp here in Missouri, and to demonstrate the entire process — from plant to finished structure — on our campus at the <a class="gmail-decorated-link" href="https://learn.opensourceecology.org/" rel="noopener">Future Builders Academy</a>.
The caveat (and for us, the opportunity) is that everything must be fully open source in the <a href="https://certification.oshwa.org/">Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA)-compliant</a> sense: in-process documentation, true collaborative design, and freely accessible builds so that others can contribute to the best solution - as opposed to the industry standard of a fragmented effort with each contender claiming primacy. This is central to our mission of enabling solutions at scale.
