New page

Granted i don't want to come across as rude, quite the opposite, i'm interested!, but what is the reasoning for using something along the lines of this, rather than a Reciprocating Saw (for cutting), Rotary Tool (for intricate work such as carving or trimming), or Random Orbital Sander (for sanding / Buffing of Wood Polish / Wood Coatings etc)

My guess would be for either Tool Reduction (For organization / minimalism, or just to prevent needing to buy another expensive tool ), or having more "ooomph" so you can get more done with that extra power?

I think it is mainly for Boat Bottom Painting (PILE of sanding in all that), but in the few times i've used it for misc other things those Random Orbital Sanders / Palm Sanders are AMAZING (granted we have some cheap home depot corded one, with poor Dust Collection , but even that got the job done. That's my take on that use case at least. (Although i did get a near Mirror Finish on my mild steel weld test plates with just an angle grinder with a hard rock wheel, so it can be done i'd imagine!)

Either way i'd be interesting to hear what you all think on this.
