New page

On the note of workman’s comp, i would say that’s a crappy loophole, more than it is a good thing, ALTHOUGH i get compliance can be rough, especially when these small companies are starting up (Meanwhile Walmart can have a full office building dedicated to it!)

Kind of touches on [[Code is a Floor Not a Ceiling]] type stuff.

GRANTED if you have everything set up nicely + planned well, short of a not at fault Car Crash, there isn’t really any GOOD reason to get hurt on the job these days.

[[Hearing Loss]] / Occupational Lung Hazard Exposure are the only ones that spook me/seem like they need more effort given to them.

It depends on how OSE does Ladders/Elevated Work Platforms/Roofs etc, but a mix or Caution+No Go Zones+Training, as well as [[Fall Arrest Harnesses]] whenever needed etc and people having major falls shouldn’t be a concern.

A mix of Substitution (use quieter processes if possible), Engineering Controls (Have a “Hush Kit” via a good [[Muffler]] added to the generator/[[Power Cube]] etc, as well as a [[Generator Noise Control Box]] ), Really Good PPE via [[Electronic Hearing Protection]] integrated with [[Walkie Talkies]] and/or people’s phones, or even the more Mundane Administrative Controls (Distance, sound drops off so don’t chill right kext to the loud af gear/limit time in that zone etc, granted a crappy control but CAN WORK)

Dust Control, especially for Grinding/Stick Welding etc is a BIT more difficult. An [[Open Source Downdraft Table]] + a [[Shop Vac]] etc could probably do well for most small woodworking tools + angle grinding etc. Also [[On Tool Dust Extraction]]

[[Welding Fume Extraction]] is a BIT more tricky, but doable. Also [[Engineering Controls]] of use cleaner processes such as [[MIG]] or [[TIG]] etc

Another option would be give the welders a [[PAPR Weld Hood]] and just keep others far enough away while nasty [[6010]] fumes are being made etc

Getting/Making an [[Emergency Eyewash Station]] for the shop is a must imo, those sterile eyewash bottles could be a bit of a cheap stopgap measure, but they aren’t ideal due to costing money/being a bit harder to use in a panic.

GRANTED i’m kind of the resident safety snob, and TO BE FAIR i get the issues in getting all that setup (Although if i ever go out there i’d love to help :3 ), but yeah WAY better to get ahead of it rather than spook people off or WORST case scenario someone gets hurt then some crazy lawsuit/expose etc

Kind of rambling, but the workmen's comp bit had me wanting to get all this across, tell me what you think i guess+other ideas (as always) are welcome

The other ideas short of MAYBE the AI stuff are spot on too, i would love to play with all the fancy CNC Tools!
