<p>Added some thoughts of mine</p> <p><b>New page</b></p><div>An [[Open Source DSLR]] and an [[Open Source Medium Format Camera]] would be neat as those are things rarely made by the industry as is. The former is being phased out for [[Mirrorless Cameras]] with [[Digital Viewfinders]] .<br /> <br /> There is some work on [[Open Source Medium Format Film Cameras]] and [[Project Gigapixel]] for that niche, but DSLRs are largely not done<br /> <br /> (Granted it probably has to be assembled in a [[Cleanroom]] and short of [[Huygens Optics]] having all the right kit+knowhow to make precision optics chain is really a challenge.<br /> <br /> Making a camera body compatible with COTS [[Lens Mount Standards]] using COTS parts (from as simple as a [[Raspberry Pi Camera]] to a more high end sensor chipset + IO etc is doable though, granted debatable benefit perhaps.<br /> <br /> FINALLY Open Source Firmware/Software Suites exist for Photography/Videography <br /> <br /> [[Magic Lantern (Firmware) ]]<br /> <br /> [[digiCamControl (Software) ]]<br /> <br /> [[darktable (Software) ]]<br /> <br /> [[RawTherapee (Software) ]] / [[Another RawTherapee (Software) ]]<br /> <br /> Also Microfiche/Microfilm]] / [[Microdots]] ESPECIALLY with non-silver emulsion containing film ( [[Azo-Dye]] based etc) would be neat as well, but that’s a whole other rant!</div>
