&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;Although the current thinking is to go with Solar Fire&amp;#039;s flat version of a parabolic dish, this flat version of a trough idea would have been a lot better if the slats were simply placed in a parabolic alignment (standard trough) so that only 1 accurate motor and controller would have been needed.  This idea is still potentially important for a hybrid system.  A trough would be a pre-heater to a dish (Solar Fire is basically a dish design that is not optimal for the same reason the flat slats without a trough is not optimal: leaving parabolic shape causes a lot of angle control problems).
