About

  • 3 lengthwise strings
  • 3 bypass diodes
  • Lose 1/3 power for shading even a single cell in a string
  • But, entire string will run at 1/3 power loss? One panel knocks out a string - [1]

Solutions

  • Run parallel instead of string as much as possible. Tradeoff between wiring requirement and shading optimization.
  • Microinverters
  • Bypass diodes - can we add 6 diodes instead of usual 3? Or more?
