LORAN-C was a radio navigation system which allowed a receiver to determine its position by listening to low frequency radio signals transmitted by radio beacons. They essentially sent out blips like GPS, and the device did the calculation based of the beacons' prerecorded location, and the time delay of the different signals. This Technology Benefits OSE by allowing Open Source and Relatively Simplistic Navigation Technology for things such as the automated tractor.  It was used for navigation before GPS, but then declined in usage.  It is predicted to have a resurgence due to  the need for a GPS alternative for redundancy.  Also a new version has been explored called eLORAN which uses more modern systems for improved accuracy.
