Good day all.

My name is Lloyd and I love engineering challenges. I owe a large part of my knowledge base to information freely given over the internet and I believe that the only way this can continue is if people contribute to the pot. I hope that open source engineering will give to the world what open source IT has achieved.

I offer skills developed through my studies in mechatronic engineering, industrial automation and robotics as well as employment in fields such as engineering design, maintenance engineering and condition monitoring.

I have started a tumblr blog for designs; I will be using this as a main splashboard for ideas and concepts so check it out.. http://www.tumblr.com/blog/livengineering or if you don't have a Tumblr account, http://livengineering.tumblr.com/rss
I have in the past been involved heavily with electric vehicles; ran my own business selling electric push bikes for a period of time and now the owner of LIV Engineering out of Perth.

How I wish to contribute to this project? I have a few thousand hours on SolidWorks and will be able to continue designing for the project using this software package. I have also prototyped and fabricate my own designs so I design to manufacturer.
==='''WHY''' are you motivated to support/develop this work?===
*''Do you endorse open source culture?''
Yes, knowledge given is the only coin for payment of knowledge received.
*''Why are you interested in collaborating with us?''
A challenge and a good cause. I believe that open source engineering has the ability to supply advanced mechanical equipment to time rich, capital poor communities. Plus I need no excuse to do engineering design.
*''How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?''
The political views aside, I believe that the GVCS has the ability to deliver technology to the hands of people who will not be able to afford the advancements for at least another 2 generations. This is the cutting edge, open source engineering, download a library of tools for a civilization...
*''What are you missing in the project?''
A focus on closed circuit production, a toilet, a washing machine and I believe an electric off road bike of some time.
*''What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?''
I would like to see more emphasis on relationships between the systems, such as waste heat from the hydraulic system can be used for de-salinization of ground water for crops which have waste products that can be used in the gasification system... or gasification by-products which can be compressed and used for the baking oven or for central heating at a convenient time.
==='''WHAT'''===
*''List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other''
Organisational: during university I sold electric bikes through my back yard business. Honestly it was not the greatest of corporate challenges. I am currently running a start up engineering design and prototype consultancy.
Design/ product design/metallurgy/engineering/fabrication: extensive use of SolidWorks and other CAD software. I have designed over 50 different systems at last count, including hydraulics, pneumatics and automation components. Having prototyped a few designs, including tilt steering three wheeled single person electric vehicles, CNC modifications and sensor deployment rigs.
Automation/electronics/CNC: PLC programming, PIC, AVR, PROP embedded systems design and programming. I once designed and started prototyping a CNC PCB mill but had to stop the project due to costs.
Energy: I have developed concepts around wind turbines and Green waste gasification systems that I believe could be useful to this organisation.
*''How have you already contributed to the project?''
I’ve started uploading designs onto my tumblr blog
==='''HOW''' can you help?''===
*''Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?''
I am based on the other side of the world to this project, with a 12 hour time difference, in so my contribution will be by email, internet and with a fair bit of a time delay.
*''Are you interested in [[Dedicated_Project_Visit|Dedicated Project Visit]]?''
I live on the other side of the world...
*''Are you interested in using the technologies that we are developing directly?''
Yes, my self and my partner are currently designing a CEB house in the great southern of WA and plan to use wind turbines, the CEB press and other technology to reduce costs. WA is an expensive state and it is actually cheaper for us to build our own back hoe than to purchase and sustain a new one.
