A “climate battery” (also known as a "heat bank", "thermal banking") is a subterranean air-circulation system that takes the hot, moist, ambient air from the greenhouse during the day, stores it in the soil, and discharges it at night. It can offer tropical and Mediterranean climates at similarly high altitudes and in cold climates (and everywhere else). The concept of thermal can also be applied to seasonal storage of cold temperatures in the winter, that can be used for refrigeration and air conditioning in the summer.
