sorry, one more suggestion: use ping.fm to update twitter, identica, facebook, etc which can be done right from your chat client.

step #1: make an identity on these networks and sites.

   * twitter
   * identi.ca
   * youtube (you probably already have this)
   * archive.org (optional, but a good place to archive audio and video content)
   * bliptv
   * del.icio.us
   * facebook
   * http://socialmediaclassroom.com/community  (good to get yourself in front of educators who will be sympathetic to your work)
   * any ning network you think is useful

Once you have that done (it won't take you too long), I will help you come up with a strategy for using them, and following them, that is relatively quick and easy.
