Block Uniformity
- Keep 2 block dimensions same for all blocks
- Based on the conceptual design, 1 of the block dimensions will solely be used to fit the diameter of the leadscrews, precision shafts, and sleeve bearings.
- The other block dimension to be uniform will mostly support the part by its length on precision shafts.
- For accommodating leadscrew nuts up to 10mm or 3/8" dia, dimension 1 will be 40mm (approx. 1.5")
- For accommodating stepper motor mounting and axis stability, dimension 2 will be 75mm (approx. 3")
Stepper Motor Mount Uniformity
- Use the same stepper motor type for each axis.
- Nema 17 steppers for appropriate performance characteristics.
- Standard 31mm center-to-center mounting holes. Modular.
Sleeve Bearing Mount Uniformity
- Use the same sleeve bearing type throughout machine
- 2 fastening holes on the part to which sleeve bearing should be mounted. For sleeve bearing of 24mm diameter, mount circle with 10+15mm washers and 1mm clearance should be 24 + 10 + 2 = 36mm diameter.
X Blocks
- The X major and minor blocks should have the same heights.
- Base to shaft hole = 30mm
- Base to stepper hole = 75mm
- Base to top = 100mm
Y Blocks
- The Y major and minor blocks should have the same heights.
- Base to X shaft hole
- Base to Y lower shaft hole
- Base to X stepper hole
- Base to Y stepper hole
- Base to Y upper shaft hole
- Base to top
