Thanks for getting in touch.
I am familiar with your project and I think it is terrific! In general I'm a big fan, user, and sometimes contributor to open-source projects. I really couldn't be doing what I am doing without open-source.
The Velkess product will most definitely have an open-source API.
Right now, my primary mission is to get this technology out into the world and widely used. I quite sure that this device, at least initially will have to made in a factory. How we get to that point is not entirely clear, so I have to remain open to a variety of different approaches. Outsourcing the hardware is certainly an option. We will have to see down the road.
