An Earthship is a type of home that takes care of its own needs with regard to energy, water, waste disposal and sometimes even food production. It achieves a high level of energy efficiency by using the sun's heat as much as possible and having heavy insulation. The idea is to have a home with no pipes or cables coming in or out: no electrical lines, sewage pipes, or water mains.

Earthships are intended to be built by people who are not trained builders. (more...)
