These are general guidelines not instructions. The below licenses can be used in many ways on different instruments. Read them to understand how.
For Hardware, CAD files, Schematics, PCB's
- Open Source Hardware use the Logo and provide some kind of license file with it.
- CERN Open Hardware License and follow the instructions.
For Software, Code, Music and Video
- Creative Commons Craft your own license, you choose what attributes you want to have associated with it.
- GPL Once under GPL derivatives must remain under GPL.
- FreeBSD Once under FreeBSD, derivative licences can be changed.
Public Domain
- You can enter something into the Public Domain by providing a legal statement with it that states so. Once in the Public Domain it will remain there permanently. This procedure will vary from country to country. I would recommend asking for advice from a lawyer, notary public or solicitor. You should be able to get free advice on how to do this procedure. Actually doing the procedure might cost.
