Overview
Masters Degree in Physics. Experience developing optics, lasers and research on plasma and sonar. Worked at the University of Texas, California Institute of Technology, Jet Propulsion Laboratory and several private sector laser companies.
Worked on University of Texas Plasma device, TOKAMAK. Did thermal radiation diagnostics. Tried to diagnose why so much energy was lost out of the plasma - where is the energy going. Used pyroelectic detectors.

Lives on a couple of acres in Columbus, Texas - all paid for. Not desparate for money, not worried about being foreclosed on like so many people are these days. Watching over his 85 year old mother. Quasi-retired, building a company called Encore USA Scientifics. Somewhat disabled - back injury that requires him to stand, can't lift heavy objects.
Encore USA Scientifics - founded a company that makes precision science-education instruments.
Fabrication Experience
Has a shop. Band saw, metal lathe, mill, able to make almost anything with the combination of the three. Has Buzz box - old stick type of arc welder. Can weld fairly well with that. Has experience on large machine tools and has been using the equipment since he was 18 years old.
Machine Design
CAD experience - has an old version of Solidworks (1998) - uses that and has designed a large number of devices, some are being prototyped. Does FEA- finite element analysis, MES - mechanical event simulation, build a model in Solidworks and import it into the FEA package and set up an FEA to calculate thermal or mechanical stress and then set parameters that change versus time. The computer puts out information for various conditions - it will animate all the stresses for different conditions ,you can see where critical stress conditions might arise.
Fabrication Drawings
Yes. In Solidworks, he knows how to convert models to fab. drawings using different templates. He produces them all the time as a guide so he can machine something. Solidworks makes that pretty easy.
Tolerances
Has experience, with lasers etc., setting up drawings for machinists and specifying standard tolerances. Generally, you choose one edge as your reference point and specify dimensions from that edge and specify plus or minus the tolerance limits.
Have you ever operated any heavy equipment? Some but he's currently disabled, must stand up to operate equipment

- Could help to some extent on most of them.
- Can bring in associates to help - network of people in the San Diego area who can help. Engineers, optical engineers, electronics gurus, mechanical fabricators.
