Preparation and Planning
- Pack basic gear, i.e. laptop, digital camera, smart phone, external hard drives, artist supplies, tent, cot, sleeping bag, boots, PPE, toiletries, stainless steel pot, rice and beans, personal guiding principles reference materials, books.
Dedicated Project Visit Details
- Duration - 7/14 - 9/7 (long term residency is desired)
- Arrive at FeF on 7/14/13 at 8:00pm
- Day 1 - 7/14-Settle in at FeF and familiarize myself with FeF site layout and daily life standards and practices
- Week 1 -7/15-7/19 - Step 1
- Miscellaneous - 7/21-7/22 - 2 day trip to Milwaukee; returning the night of 7/22
- Week 2 - 7/23-7/26 - Step 2
- Week 3 - 7/29-8/2 - Step 3
- Week 4 - 8/5-8/9 - Step 3 cont.
- Week 5 - 8/12-8/16 - Step 4
- Week 6 - 8/19-8/23 - Step 4
- Week 7 - 8/26-8/30 - Step 4 cont.
- Week 8 - 9/2-9/6 - Step 4 cont.
Note: Saturdays and Sundays will most likely be used to continue laboring with FeF team and/or training in areas of weakness in my professional/personal development
Logistics
- Financial
- I do not desire financial compensation for the DPV
- Financial compensation may be considered if long-term residency is approved
- I will cover all of my financial expenses
- $300 damage deposit will be made to FeF for my DPV
- I will purchase the materials, supplies, and equipment to fabricate (1) Lifetrac and (1) Powercube
- Food
- I will provide my own food or contribute financially to any current meal practices currently in place
- Shelter
- I will sleep in my tent with a cot
- Transportation
- I have a car that I will use to travel to/from Milwaukee/FeF and get supplies locally
- Insurance
- I have health/dental insurance provided by the local VA hospital
- I have auto insurance and AAA for my vehicle
At Fator e Farm
- Labor and train in Technical Development and documentation to include Design, CAD, materials and parts lists, prototyping, fabrication, R&D, peer review
- Provide support with site management and cooking.
Personal/Professional Development Process at FeF
- Step 1-Laborer/Shop Hand - Week 1
- Become proficient in standard FeF standard practices and processes
- Adapt to FeF work flow and culture
- Familiarize myself with GVCS prototypes and projects already in process
- Observe FeF products and environment to identify where I may specialize/concentrate my energy and labor to benefit and achieve the mission of FeF and the GVCS
- All of the above will be done by volunteering my time to help in current FeF projects-i.e. sweeping the floor, grabbing a wrench, welding, CAD work, making rice and beans, etc.
- Step 2- Student - Week 2
- Labor in an area to progress the current FeF projects
- Focus my personal development/research/training/studying to become proficient in a role not currently fulfilled at FeF or one that extra support is needed
- Immerse myself in desired area of expertise-CAD, prototyping, fabrication, design, research
- 50/50 FeF/Personal development-Half of my time as laborer/shop hand and half of my time studying/training in selected area(s) of professional development
- Step 3-Specialization - Week 3 - 4
- Area of study/specialization directly benefits current FeF projects and overall mission of GVCS
- 100% of time-professional/personal development are integrated into daily workflow
- Become highly proficient in area(s) of expertise
- Continue studying/training on my own time to continue professional/personal development
- Step 4-Assessment of Accomplishment/Deliverables - Weeks 5 - 8
- Create CAD files of parts and projects
- Fabricate a Lifetrac and Powercube
