Team Culturing Information

last Updated: 26. June, 2012.

WHO are you?

  • Name - Stephan Schildberg
  • Location (city, country) - The Netherlands
  • Contact Information (email, skype, phone) - schildberg at scoid.de
  • Introduction Video -
  • Resume/CV - designer, farmer

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?

  • Do you support open source culture?

Yes.

  • Why are you interested in collaborating with us?

Investments into OSE will hopefully still valuable in times ahead of us. OSE as a model of economy can be far more comprehensible for many more people. OSE is solution focused. I like the live style of working on the countryside, with like-minded peers on technologies.

  • How do you think that the GVCS and Open Source Hardware can address pressing world issues?

It will accelerate the start of small scale farming, which itself can be freeing for some. Understanding and being capable of modifying the tools one uses, with the background of a community to ask, makes work easier and live more beautiful. More time left for (personal) development.

  • What do you like in OSE Europe?

The regional diversity of mentalities, cultures and approaches of thinking. The different climate zones and topographies will lead to a broad variety of different answers to one question.

  • What should happen so that you become more involved with OSE Europe?

I have to finish my farming training.

  • What is missing in OSE Europe?

Places. The right time given, they will pop on the maps, one after the other. Low energy impact concepts of cooling + refrigeration, to survive food from harvest to winter.

  • What are your suggestions for improvement in OSE Europe?

I see it sprouting, but it would be nice to have a printed A7-flyer to show around.

WHAT are your skills?

  • List all of your skills in these areas, at what level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and where did you practice them:
    • Communications - developed together with a friend the idea and initiative of the "green internet", data centres powered by renewables. We were very successful in Germany. (> ecologee.net)
    • Organizational - for an event of 200 people, logistics and planning for exhibitions, small projects with interior design.
    • Fundraising - not much
    • Finances - supported a regional currency group.
    • Public Relations/Marketing - organized pr and ci for a small crafts workshop, with a bilingual website.
    • Web Development - designed websites for artists, designers, agencies.
    • Video/Graphics/Art - layouted some flyers, websites, run as a group member an art gallery and installed here and there some art.
    • Natural Building - have never done it, but I am itching to prove some concepts.
    • Construction - can raise a wall, can fabricate terrazzo objects, stucco lustro in situ
    • Architecture - worked some time as an interior designer. As long as I remember I was interested in architecture, especially local materials, biotechture, passive solar houses, passive cooling technics, permaculture
    • Agriculture and Food Production - 3.5 years experience with organic gardening, dairy farming, grain cleaning, using tractors, interested in growing and process fibre, for fibre reinforced plastic. e.g.
    • Woodworking - can use basic tools to build mokups for design models including wood-turning-lathe in a model workshop. Build a shelf or the structure for a room inside a house.
    • Electronics - build and programmed a 6502 a meteo-logger and a power-line modem. With a 8052 AH-Basic I made and programmed (Basic) a stepper controlled platform, remote controlled via a HyperCard Interface from an Apple Mac.

I layouted (HiWire), drilled (CAM), etched the pcb's and soldered them in university courses many years ago. I can interpret a logic analyzer and oscilloscope.

    • CAD Design - have experience with different CAD long time ago, but no projects where I could have trained it.
    • Fabrication - steel framed furniture, build a fence for pigs, a bit of welding
    • Energy - knowledge of concepts of natural cooling or heating methods for different uses
    • Product Design - I studied industrial design.

  • How have you already contributed to OSE, OSE Europe and Open Source Hardware?

no.

HOW can you help?

  • How do you want to contribute?

running a small farm, evangelizing

  • Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week? Or do you have a free timeframe (week, month)?

not now.

  • Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?

  • Are you interested in being part of one of the OSE communities in Europe? If so in which country?

Germany and France

  • Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit in OSE Communities in Europe? If so in which country?

any

  • Are you interested in building GVCS or other Open Source Hardware equipment in Europe? If so which ones?

too early to answer this questions in 2012.

no.

  • Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?

as soon as places will materialize I can answer this.

Your Friends and Community

  • What friends, people, communities and organizations do you know who are already doing valuable work for a better future? For example: open source hardware/software, sustainable agriculture, natural building, renewable energy, abundance based economies, local production or others?
  • What are the technological (machines, tools, structures, ...) and biological (people, animals, plants, ...) needs of your community so that it becomes self-sufficient locally and globally connected?

thermal solar energy for heating flats, drying harvests, rain catchment structures, aqua culture, nut trees, vegetables, grain, fiber plants, animals for fertilization - no meet production, dairy farming (which and in what combination (cattle, goats, sheep) depends on the territory and climate), reforestation of a water shed in southern France. As if the spot could be far from media (water, electricity, gas, communication), it should have a self sustained communication infrastructure to get a connection to the Internet.

  • Are your friends and community doing valuable work for a better future? How can they become more involved in this process and share more with everyone?
