I'm a mechanical engineering student, and I support the OSE via the True Fans program because I need to justify ignoring the for-profit canvassers that infest my campus. On a more serious note, a completed Open Source Village kit would represent several orders of magnitude of improvement over existing projects to improve living conditions around the globe with technology.
