It is possible to design an open source submarine for automated transoceanic cargo shipment of heavy raw materials and feedstocks not available in certain areas.
This would take considerable research, but concrete based submarines have been developed recently that could in principle be built within OSE guidelines. Cost estimates are in the range of $450-500 USD per cubic meter.
