Communication Path Hardware

Phone cable. Vulnerable to noise, which disrupts information packets (changing magnetic fields induce current in the unprotected wire). Maximum speed is low because higher speeds cause greater noise.

Coaxial cable. Less vulnerable to noise because the outer conductor shields the inner conductor. Reduced signal-to-noise ratio leads to higher maximum communication speed.
