Schematic of a temperature controlled seawater basin. This design allows to grow/preserve coral species in secluded basins on the shore. As a huge number of coral species are in danger of becoming extinct in the next decades (especially in certain areas like the caribbean), this should prove helpful. Besides use in basins, the design could without a doubt also be used in public aquariums and aquatic theme parks. These, as well as the basin thus become, in effect, gene banks.
