Cost Comparison of 2x4 vs 2x6 wall framing:

  • 8ft 2x4 = $3
  • 2x4s must be spaced a minimum of 16" oc. 6 studs are necessary for an 8ft span of wall. 6 x $3 = $18
  • 2x6s must be spaced a minimum of 24" oc. 4 studs are necessary for an 8 ft span of wall. 4 x $4.5 = $18
