A decorticator is a machine for separating crops into different materials by stripping the skin or bark and rinding off nuts, wood, plant stalks, or grain.

In today’s market, there are both stationary large scale and portable small scale decorticators intended for different plants. A Hemp decorticator seperates the hemp stalk's woody inner core (hurd, shivs and shives) from the exterior bast fibers.
