Dedicated Project Visit Proposal

Abstract: For my D.P.V. I propose a month long visit emphasizing completion of current infrastructure construction, identifying and eliminating any hazards, assistance in the production efficiency of the prototyping of any other projects where needed. I also hope to be involved in possible planning of overall project to allow for end goals such as the 50 kW wind turbine to be realized as self sufficiently as possible. I am more than willing to do whatever is needed to assist in the realization of this project. The primary physical change I will be responsible for will be safe completion of any buildings currently underway. I also propose a basic safety training video as an integral primary part of the introduction and project specific safety videos.

Contingency: The only situation I can foresee that would cause me to cut my visit to factor-e-farm short would be a death in the family. As such I will emphasize immediate safety training upon arrival, and should be able to finish out the video safety and individual safety documentation via e-commute

Blogging: I anticipate my primary blogging to be somewhat removed from my workscope as I expect the majority of my time to be towards wall construction, and my blogging to be safety related, I think a good plane is to sit down and get information about the fabrication processes of existing projects and past projects at factory farm while there, and complete one a week while there, as my main goal is completion of infrastructure, and the safety tutorials can be updated and done remotely.

Schools attended:

Howard County Junior College :Associates of Science 97 graduated 2010 credit hours basic welding certificate, partial cosmetology cert (I can cut hair just not for cash) hydrofluoric acid industrial safety class
University of Texas Arlington: ~ 30 credit hours including chemistry for engineering professional’s intro to engineering intro to civil engineering advanced digital music technology.

Trade certs/work experience: journeyman union ironworker, OSHA 10 with Sub-part R (erection and rigging regulations), Crosby Rigging Company certification. International Association of Bridge structural. Reinforcing, and Ornamental Ironworkers Crane, rigging. And signalman governmental certs. Multiple private company site orientation/refinery/industrial safety classes Multiple individual company heavy equipment (i.e. telescopic boom forklifts, and manbasket) certs 2500+ hours operating forklifts manbaskets without incident 8 years as an ironworker/rigger/signalman in industrial environments without recordable instances ~1800 wind turbines erected Oversaw the logistics of 600 people in a steel mill, which included daily trucks large lay-down yard and 4 separate cranes. Hospitals built, refinery work, moved oil rigs, climbed Wi-Fi towers, steam turbine installation, generator alignment, turbine maintenance.

Skillset:

years of training in hazard recognition, design of advanced rigging and installation procedures, significant welding experience, engineering training, firm grasp of mechanics, grasp of production techniques, understanding of large scale efficiency and project coordination, understanding of morale, cool head when it matters most.

Design: designed and competed on a statewide lever in the asce steel bridge competition, knowledge of basic civil engineering principals. have designed many, many inventions just for fun, some of which i feel would be viable if i had the resources to produce them

Particularly relevant skills: SAFETY, hazard identification and communication procedures, proper safe working habits, hands on construction of structures and delicate machinery costing upwards of 3 million dollars. welder helper experience, shop safety, general intelligence, turbine erection and maintenance experience and contacts, complex systems troubleshooting, knowledge of internal combustion engines and troubleshooting, basic circuitry knowledge, and workplace efficiency knowledge

Organizational skills: experience supervising the erection of wind turbines including approx. 7 tower hands working simultaneously and independently on 3 levels, experience organizing ground crews consisting of approx. 5 members.

Cooking: I must say I am an awesome griller

Physical condition: I am physically fit, and challenge anyone to keep up with me when I do manual labor. I am used to 17 hour days and 90+ hour workweeks in inclement weather.

mental condition:i have no issues that will impair my judgement or ability to complete my work at factor-e-farm

easy to get along with: I am generally agreeable under most normal working conditions, the only thing I have a hard time dealing with is people yelling at me when I have done nothing wrong, when i have screwed up, I will own and accept responsibility for my actions , but I will not be treated without respect. I do not see that as becoming an issue at the farm , but I will answer all your questions honestly and straightforward. but I keep high spirits while working , I will allways pick up the heavies object, and take the most uncomfortable job.I simply don't handle yelling well.

Team player: ABSOLUTELY, I firmly believe in the potential of this project to DRASTICALLY alter the world for the better, and the only self-gratification I seek is the satisfaction that comes with being able to play a supporting, servile role, in the big picture.

Yes I smoke

I have no dietary restrictions

do you have a car: yes I have a vehicle I plan on driving to the farm.

Wiki: I am unfamiliar with editing a wiki, but as you can tell i am learning.

pioneer: I look forward to the challenge of trailblazing new paths, and marking the path for those who follow, I feel this will be more rewarding than anything I have ever been a part of , including my work for nasa.

other options: if I am accepted and it terminates after the month I will be grateful for the time spent , and I always have options, and honestly I am very fulfilled here in Austin , and would not leave for anything other than this project.

availability: I would appreciate being able to stop off and see family along the way so if it is workable I can be there 4 days after receiving the final approval

strong political views: i do feel passionately that the current socio-economic situation is in need of significant changes, but first and foremost i believe in the sovereignty of a mans mind, everyone, including the idiots are entitled to their opinion, as long as they can express it with respect, and if they can not communicate respectfully, i simply avoid controversial topics with them, one does not have to like someone to be able to work towards common goals together. But again, I believe my thoughts are mine, and not to be forced upon anyone
