Safety

  • Wear safety glasses and gloves during cutting, drilling, filing, and cleaning operations

Point Marking with Datum Point/Edge

  • Measure the appropriate distance from the datum point/edge and scribe the length point with 2 small lines
  • Repeat for all dimensions, all points to be marked

Match Drilling

  • Set 2 components one on top of the other, mount securely, then drill through both pieces at the same time for exact matching accuracy.
  • Match drilling works effectively with templates
  • Match drilling works effectively for pieces before they are cut

Cut Aluminum Flat Bar 1.5" x 3" x 48"

  • Mark metal with scribe and measuring tape: 4 lengths of 100mm, 2 lengths of 150mm, 2 length of 140mm, 1 length of 40mm
  • Cut the marked lengths with bandsaw

Cut Aluminum Flat Bar 0.375" x 3.5" x 10-12"

  • Mark metal with scribe and measuring tape: 2 lengths of 110mm
  • Cut the marked lengths with bandsaw

Cut Aluminum Round Bar 15mm Dia, 12" Lg

  • Mark metal with scribe and measuring tape: 6 lengths of 30mm
  • Cut the marked lengths with bandsaw

Cut Precision Shaft 5mm Dia, 200mm Lg

  • Mark metal with scribe and measuring tape: 1 length of 115mm
  • Cut the marked lengths with bandsaw

Cut Leadscrew

  • Cut with bandsaw: 3 lengths of 320mm, 1 length of 120mm

Fabricate Platform

  • Qty=1
  • Mark All Holes
  • Use a single datum point

Fabricate X Minor Block

  • Qty=2
  • Match all thru holes with corresponding X Major Blocks, Y Major Block, and Y Minor Block
  • Mark all blind holes
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate X Major Block

  • Qty=2
  • Mark all blind holes and remaining thru holes
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate Y Minor Block

  • Qty=1
  • Match the Y-axis thru holes with Y Major Block and Z Mount Block
  • Mark all blind holes
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate Y Major Block

  • Qty=1
  • Mark all blind holes and remaining thru holes
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate Z Minor Block

  • Qty=1
  • Match all thru holes with Z Major Block, Z Mount Block (both ends), and End Mount Block
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate Z Major Block

  • Qty=1

Fabricate Z Mount Block

  • Qty=1
  • Mark all blind holes

Fabricate Spindle Block

  • Qty=1
  • Match the mounting thru holes with End Mount Block
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate End Mount Block

  • Qty=1
  • Mark all remaining blind holes
  • Tap holes as necessary

Fabricate Shaft Collar

  • Qty= 12
  • Mark and drill setscrew holes
  • Lathe-drill shaft hole
  • Tap setscrew holes

Fabricate Axis Coupling

  • Qty= 4
  • Mark and drill setscrew holes
  • Lathe-drill smaller shaft holes, then larger shaft holes
  • Tap setscrew holes

Fabricate Spindle Motor Coupling

  • Qty= 1
  • Mark and drill setscrew holes
  • Lathe-drill smaller shaft holes, then larger shaft holes
  • Tap setscrew holes

Fabricate Spindle Bit Coupling
