Summary

  • Rotary Shaft and Support allows the blade to descend in an arc on the workpiece.

The rotary shaft should be supported by 2 blocks for rigidity while retaining efficient material use.

The 2 blocks should be held to the swivel plate by welds for superior rigidity and ease of manufacturing. There are no precision concerns along the horizontal plane regarding welding the shaft blocks onto the swivel plate as opposed to fastening them because the swivel plate is able to rotate.

The support frame up to the drive assembly should be connected to the rotary shaft at 2 points for rigidity.

The support frame should be easily detachable from the drive assembly for ease of assembly, disassembly, and maintenance. The attaching mechanism can be 4 fasteners positioned in a rectangle.

The support frame should be comprised of thick flat bar for rigidity while retaining ease of fabrication and accessibility.

The operation handle should be attached close to the tip of the rotating support, and long in length for mechanical advantage- which facilitates use ergonomics.

What mounts onto the rotary shaft must be as close as possible to the shaft blocks such that failure due to fatigue is minimized.
