Mcmaster Roughing Endmill: 8817A52

Mcmaster T-slot Cutter: 8789A12

Materials

Cast grey iron - 1" x 6" x 12" - (8923K671 at Mcmaster Carr)

Build

Use surface grinder.

Surface grind top and bottom faces to be parallel.


Use roughing endmill on mill. (1/2" dia 4 flute)

Make 18/32" wide, 0.6" deep slots across the length of the iron bar

Spacing from long edge: 25.4mm (1"), 76.2mm (3"), 127mm (5")


Use T-slot cutter on mill. (31/32" Cutter Dia, 25/64" W Face)

Match or be a bit less than the depth of the slot; firmly lock the height for this entire step.

Make the T-slot across the length of the iron bar.

Spacing from long edge: same as last step
