Seminal Work

Seminal work on the topic, by the same title, was written by Edward Bernays in 1928, and should be required reading for any architect of the next civilization - in terms of understanding how public opinion is shaped. This book is a foundational text for understanding marketing - a new concept that emerged early in the 20th century when human technological ability to produce economic goods has far outstripped the damand for these goods asa byproduct of the Second Industrial Revolution.

Quotes

"The true object of propaganda is neither to convince nor even to persuade, but to produce a uniform pattern of public utterance in which the first trace of unorthodox thought reveals itself as a jarring dissonance.
