Seminal work on non-throwaway computers:

Questions

  • Why does the actual board schematic have to be proprietary at this point until this ships? Does this imply that whoever is funding this, or will fund this, will require exclusivity of production?
  • Does this computer have 100% of components that can be sourced off the shelf? If so, why do we need dedicated manufacturers? Is there only a small number of companies that can solder the actual boards together?
  • Why is this project completely open, ie, in terms of divulging its design blueprints on an ongoing basis? Important question because that is the standard operating procedure of OSE that we do not intend to give up, which we believe is the last mile of open/libre - to remove 100% of Competitive Waste.
