Homeschool Script
Hello - this video is for the home school community - for any students who are interested in college level education but who are not excited about so-called 'going to college'.
We are offering an innovative program that focuses on real skills for changing the world. We are offering a program where you learn to design and build just about anything - where you learn how to learn - and where you learn how to be an integrated human.
This is an apprenticeship from 1-4 years at the college level - or shorter if you want to test it out.
We're finding out that it is hard to recruit students without us having a track record as a 'so called college.' For years, we have run extreme build workshops and opportunities for hands-on builds - swarm builds of machines, agriculture projects, and homes where we build something in just a few days - with the power of team-based collabolation and rapid learning.
Our plans are ambitious - to apply this to reimagining and rebuilding the world.
We are lookign for people who are interested in lifelong learning. We are looking for people interested in building their character - to develop the humility required to take on and solve problems much larger than oneself. We are looking for people who want to become responsible and powerful stewards of the world around them - who see the possibility of a world that works for everyone.
We start with a 2 week Crash Course for Builders, where we build an entire home including all the utilities and rooftop photovoltaics. We continue over the next 2 months to build a complete ecological house on the open market - with exquisite eco and natural features. Over the whole year - we spend 2 days building eco-homes, and 3 days in a program of 6-15 credit hours equivalent of study - focusing on teamwork, team projects, and collaboration that allows us to build the open source Global Village Construction Set over the next 4 years.
If you are interested - please see my TED Talk on the open source blueprints for civilization - and take a look at the application that we put out for the 4 year Apprenticeship and Fellowship. Starting date is Sep 1, 2025.

Hello homeschoolers. If you're seeking a college-level education with a different approach, and are driven to make a real impact, this is for you.
At Open Source Ecology, we offer a hands-on, opportunity to gain real skills for changing the world.
Forget sitting in a classroom. Imagine yourself learning to design and build anything. From sustainable eco-homes to cutting-edge machines, you'll gain the skills to not just understand the world, but to build a better one. We focus on learning how to learn, how to work as a team, and how to become a truly integrated, capable human being.
We offer an apprenticeship program, with options from 1 to 4 years – or a shorter trial period if you want to test the waters. For years, we've been known for our "extreme build" workshops – where teams come together and, in just a few days, create incredible things. Machines, agricultural systems, even entire houses! It's about the power of collaboration, rapid learning, and seeing what's possible when you work together.
Our plans are ambitious. We're talking about reimagining and rebuilding the world, and we need your help.
We're looking for people who are committed to lifelong learning, who want to build their character, and who have the humility and drive to tackle big problems. We want people who see the potential for a world that truly works for everyone, and who want to become responsible, powerful stewards of this planet.
Here's how we start: with a 2-week Crash Course for Builders. You'll be part of a team that builds an entire home, complete with utilities and solar panels. Then, you'll continue, over the next two months, to build a complete ecological house for the open market, incorporating the latest in sustainable design. In this process - you will be learning our modular, team workflow - which allows us to eventually build an entire house with 24 people - in only 5 days.
Over the whole year, you'll spend two days a week on these incredible hands-on builds, and three days in a college-level program (6-15 credit hours equivalent) focused on teamwork, collaboration, and the open-source Global Village Construction Set – our plan to make sustainable technology accessible to everyone. Over the first year, we will complete 6 homes, so you will get ample opportunity to practice diverse skills.
