Weight of Steel

• Steel weighs approximately 10 lb per square foot for 1/4" ASTM 36 steel.
• This figure is a good basis for back of the envelope calculations of steel weight.
• For comparison, aluminum is about 1/3 of the weight, at 0.35 lb per 1/4" square foot.
