Knowing to select the right tool for the right job is important. Here are some common notes.

  • MIG Welder - Millermatic 200 - used weld, from sheet steel to 1"
  • Welder has a wire feed for the filler metal and gas shielding for keeping the weld clean
  • Ironworker Punch/Shear/Angle Shear - whenever you have a flat piece that is less than 14" wide, you can cut it. Our ironworker can cut 1"x8" steel, or 1/2"x14"
  • Tubing - you cut with abrasive cutoff (preferred at Factor),(fast blade speed and throws off sparks) saw or band saw, or cold cut saw (a slow spinning, fluid cooled saw)
  • Angle Grinder - 15A or 5A - use that to round off all sharp corners, weld spatter, etc.
  • Acetylene Torch Tip Sizes - for oxyacetylene, use a 0 tip for 1/4 or 1/2" steel.
