Inverted Canister Stove

Basics
- A type of Canister Stove that either runs solely in, or is optimized for, operation in the “Inverted Canister Mode” such that it is tanking in Liquid and Vaporizing it in the Burner (Similar to how Pressure Lamps / Pressure Stoves etc use a Vapor Generator for White Gas / Fuel Alcohol etc)
- Main application is Cold Weather and/or VERY high heat output (and thus fuel use)
- Otherwise a simple Canister Stove that specifies it has a “Regulator Valve” is most likely fine (and more compact/less complex/cheaper)
COTS Options
Jetboil
- Jetboil Joule
- No longer in production, but used a fixed inverted canister, AND had a regulator
- At least as per Adventures in Stoving it was an absolute BEAST for Snow Melting etc
- https://jetboil.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/shop/discontinued/joule-cooking-system
- Particularly novel in it’s use of a non-separated fuel system (more akin to a conventional upright canister stove) while being inverted
MSR
- Both the “Whisperlight Universal” and the “MSR WindPro II” are meant to operate in inverted canister mode
Trangia
- While not specified in marketing materials, due to the vapor generator loop, their gas burners such as the “ Trangia Gas Butane Burner GB74” can probably operate in inverted canister mode as well
Naturehike / Campingmoon etc
- An Amazon Listing for “ Naturehike Camping Gas Stove for IGT Table” ( ‘’’ ~90 USD as of this edit’’’ )
- 13,652 BTU/Hr inverted, 9,215 BTU/HR Upright
