Study of Organizational Best Practices

These are case studies for how a related organization gets stuff done - so that OSE may learn their best practices. This study makes an assumption that typical organizations are not lean, and the typical challenge of OSE revolves around adopting a given pra give to a lean environment.

To do this study, take common tasks that OSE does, and formulate a relevant question that can be asked of leading other organizayltions for learning purposes. For example:

1. How can we learn from Wikipedia about recruiting wiki contributors who make significant contributions of designs at OSE? What resources does Wikipedia use to achieve their goals, and how can OSE access similar resources, or how can OSE perform the same functions but even more effectively or in a more lean fashion?
2. What can we learn from Linux foundation regarding the requirements for accomplishing what they do - namely, getting $1 billion of software programming from a volunteer pool, while using a $6M organizational budget to accomplish this? Can they decrease their $6M budget further, or are they the very pinnacle of a crowd-sourcing organization? What is required to replicate their success?
