In the PLM system, operation means a industrial action done on a specific part (defined by dimensions, material...) to obtain the part needed
Warning, operation is different from PLM:Transformation (which means an industrial action done from one part to the "transformed" one, like drilling, machining, welding...)
An operation defined is able to match origin part with a tool or machine (which make a PLM:Transformation for specific maximum dimensions, material...) to obtain the part needed.
