The point of the above is that you can get a chest freezer to function as a refrigerator - with a factor of 10 energy reduction (150 Watt hours per day, or equivalent to running a laptop for 2 hours) compared to the USA average of about 1500 watt hours per day [http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/reps/enduse/er01_us.html].
