OSE's usage of this term involves the industry standard of managing a product lifecycle after the point of usage. Unlike industry standards, it also includes modular, lifetime design with local production - which means that the artifact lives for as long as the owner is interested. This includes for ever - due to the design focus of making complete repair or replacement feasible at low cost and effort.
