Open source production engineering refers to (an organization or individual) providing the necessary and supporting production/manufacturing documents that allow for a predetermined Sigma Level of quality control to be achieved.

This applies to distributed production - a core aspect of OSE's work - in that Distributed Quality Control techniques must be applied to reach predictable results.
