Basics
- Ferrofluids are a fluid with a suspension of ferromagnetic particles that are coated so as to prevent clumping
- When a magnetic feild is applied the fluid gains viscosity, and may even move towards the feild source/take it's shape
Used For
- Ferrofluidic Seals
- Lubrication/Vibration Dampening via thin layers between magnets
- As a more expensive version of Magnetorheological fluid
- As a combustion rocket fuel (solvent can be burned with an oxidiser)
- As a electric rocket fuel (either the liquid is electrically jetted out, or the tips of the spikes are tuned to eject particles) (this may be especially be useful for cubesats and other small sattalites)
