DB Connectors
- They do have 20 ga wire connectors - [1] - but most are 28 ga. Need to find 22 ga source.
- Tech drawing - [2]
- Solderless - screw terminals - [3]
- With ribbon - [4]
- Sockets for ribbon cable - [5]
- Attaching ribbon - squeeze to pierce -
- Ribbon cable current rating - [6]
JST Connectors
- Another wide range of IDCs - https://www.jst.co.uk/products.php?cat=31
IDC Connectors
- =Insulation Displacement Connectors
- Example connector for IDC cable - Male - [7], Female - [8]
- Uxcell - female 10 pin - [9]
- Male 2x8 - [10]. For 28 ga ribbon - [11]
- Different pitches used - [12]
Block Telephone Connectors
- See good explanation - [13]
Ribbon Cable
- 22 ga ribbon cable does exist - [14]. Sourcing - [15]. Spec sheet - [16]
- 24 ga ribbon cable - [17] - can we find DB connectors or idc connectors
- Ribbon cable is separable:
Cat 5
Does exist for Power over Ethernet
- 22 ga - [18]
MTA Connectors
- It appears that female connectors only are available, male are rare. For Male, headers are used. Limits use for making plugs. Need male plugs.
- Crimp vs IDC connectors
- 101 seconds to crimp with tool per pin, including wire stripping and inserting into housing (10 minutes for a 6 plug)
- Second video says you can only use solid wire for this
- This one says use stranded wire - [21]
Multiple wires at the same time - uses wires spaced out on a ribbon
- Another MTA - An IDC type - [22]
