Basics
- Called a lineman splice or a western union splice
- Overkill, but also would lead to high durability and conductivity
Original Process
- A Make Magezing Video On The Process
- Strip The Wires to ~1 inch on each (if not already exposed
- Tin this 1 inch section with solder
- Bend each section 90 degrees at the 1/2 inch point
- Put the inside corners of these bends together
- On each side bend the end of the wire around the other wire itself at least three times (make sure to not form gaps between twists and the core wire)
- Trim Off Excess and make sure there are no sharp points
- Tin the whole splice with solder
- Shrinkwrap the splice
Variations
- Braid together for multi strand wire, using all the same steps
