Basics

• A dedicated componet for graphics calculations
• Contains the GPU and other componets
• Typically used as a display output, but can also be used for other processing such as Machine Learning , and cad/animation/image/video rendering, and scientific simulations
• Not needed in low requirement computers like Ultrabooks and rasberry pi's etc
• Useful for workstations and other similar high power computers
• Some configurations can allow for use of moe than one for more processing power
• The alternative is Integrated Graphics
