Basics

  • Also known as "Enamled Wire" (Typically copper, but can be other metals)
  • It is a thin, conductive wire that is coated in a thin layer of plastic
  • Thus when wound, it will not short circuit, and is thus useful for electromagnets, solenoids, and transformers
