Basics

  • A Project making a Computer Case - Laptop Hybrid for the purpose of making a DIY-able Desktop Replacement
  • Essentially rather than a standard Laptop Frame, something more akin to a Mini-ITX PC Case is used as a base, and the keyboard, speakers, and a screen etc are integrated on to this
  • Really promising solution delivering a Desktop Replacement (AKA "Gaming Laptop" / "Portable Workstation" / "Portable Editing Computer" etc) using off the shelf Desktop Hardware
    • Short of the Framework Laptop , most OTS Laptops require custom hardware and/or only the RAM and Storage (HDDs, SSDs, etc) could be replaced by the user (often with much difficulty)
  • Could also allow for more effective components, and also better systems that use bulk not accepted by most of the market (such as larger heatsinks + quieter/lower frequency noise desktop fans, Hot-Swappable Batteries , PILES of IO, etc)
