Basics
- A Scale of Manufacturing where 500-5,000 Units are Made Per Year
- This is the definition given by Stephen Hawes in His Video on Mid Scale Manufacturing , there is a bit of grey area (i for one would not be wanting to ~10 Circuit Boards etc every weekend (assuming no weekends off) (although 1 a day, if it's paid, yada yada yada, but i think as long as the tools are accessible, even the high end of "Low Scale Manufacturing" Could Still Benefit From these tools, similar to how Most People Don't Need a 3D Printer...All Communities Do )
- Essentially though it is the point where enough units are being made that it becomes tedious and/or problematic for a single worker and/or work without much Automation / Mechanization / Usage of Work Cells etc, but where Setting up a Full on Factory, or using a Contract Manufacturer is prohibitively expensive and/or not applicable
- This is probably where much of manufacturing will "settle out" to in the Decentralized Global Economy (Re: Microfactory / OSEH )
- This also is where groups like Opulo , Precious Plastic , and OSE etc can make a tremendous impact
